**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Senior Director, Academic and Student Affairs, Undergraduate Programs, the incumbent counsels and guides students from the time of entrance into a program in the John Molson School of Business until graduation. The incumbent actively participates in fulfilling the enrolment objectives of the Faculty.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Advise undergraduate students in matters relating to their academic pursuits and career aspirations.
- Evaluate students’ academic records for degree and program requirements.
- Conduct daily drop-in advising sessions, as well as set regular times for appointments with students.
- Pro-actively counsel/inform departmental advisors, chairs, staff members, and the student population about academic programs, rules and regulations. This includes participation in recruitment/open house activities, orientation/advising sessions, updating information on the SAS website and planning/facilitating workshops and special events.
- Maintain active communication with students and university departments and services.
- Provide registration assistance to and resolve registration problems for students and departmental academic advisors, chairs and staff members.
- Provide advice to and counsel students with academic problems.
- Participate in the establishment of team objectives and operational plans for advising, retention and readmission of the Faculty’s undergraduate students relating to academic programs and regulations.
- Present and handle complex requests from individual students to the Student Request Committee, the Honours Request Committee and any other related committee(s) that may be created.
- Participate in the training and support for departmental advisors, chairs, faculty and staff members on advising and retention of undergraduate students.
- Provide timely and appropriate responses to student requests regarding course exemption and transfer credit assessments, student exchange and any other requests for exceptions to University academic rules and regulations.
- Provide timely and appropriate responses to inquiries from department advisors, chairs and staff members.
- Access queries from the Student Information System as well as other sources, analyze data and provide information to faculty, students and other individuals where appropriate.
- Make recommendations to the Dean, the Senior Director and the Associate Dean of Student Academic Services, SAS team members, and departments regarding trends, practices and procedures.
- Evaluate/respond to requests for readmission from students in failed standing.
- Participate in recruitment activities and events designed to attract potential students to the Faculty and its departments.
- Represent the Student Academic Services team on various internal and external meetings and/or committees, which deal with recruitment, retention and admission of undergraduate students.
- Performs other duties in support of the Unit.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration and two to four years of related work experience in an academic setting.
- Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English.
- Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken French and reading comprehension.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with prospective, current and former students and alumni, with faculty and staff members and on internal and external departments and committees.
- Must have proven written, analytical and organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure for extended periods, take initiative and work independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills in order to conduct orientation and information sessions to potential and current students.
- Proven ability to coordinate projects and work within strict deadlines.
