Why is this role important?
- The Program Consultant, Analytics and Special Projects, is responsible for providing analytical and project leadership on a variety of initiatives commissioned by internal and external CIHI stakeholders. As a specialist in advanced analytical approaches and information delivery tactics, the Program Consultant provides stakeholders with reliable, relevant and actionable information and insight on health and health care at the national, provincial, regional and facility levels.
- What you'll do
- 1. Assists the Manager with the identification, planning, development and implementation of projects. Conducts background research, idea generation, feasibility assessments and other related activities.
- 2. Conducts analysis on internal and external datasets using advanced analytical, statistical and modelling techniques to deliver insights and recommendations that support evidence-based strategic, tactical and operational decision-making.
- 3. Works closely with CIHI’s internal methodology unit to develop robust analytical and statistical approaches using techniques like linear/logistic regression modelling, time-series analysis, regression analysis, cluster analysis, factor analysis, etc.
- 4. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify ad-hoc data and information needs, and develops innovative and creative information products (including written and graphical analytical reports) and technical solutions to meet those needs.
- 5. Develops understanding of stakeholder needs and interests, and identifies opportunities to provide data, information and appropriate supports.
- 6. Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, related data held by other organizations, and national, provincial and regional issues relating to healthcare, health information and stakeholder information needs. Looks for synergies between projects and within and across provinces/regions and leverages opportunities for collaborative projects within CIHI.
- 7. Oversees multiple projects while supporting strategic activities led from the Western Office.
- 8. Writes briefing notes, backgrounders, articles, reports and other documents as required.
- 9. Plans, leads and executes projects to support decision-making in relation to strategic and operational initiatives. This includes coordinating with various stakeholders, both internal and external, working with external consultants, developing project plans, dissemination and communications plans, and other supporting documents.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Master’s degree in health information science, health administration, statistics, epidemiology or related discipline, or equivalent education/experience.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience, specifically leading projects in health information and analytics delivery.
- Superior analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills, approaches challenges with a clear eye on what is important; employing the right approaches/methods efficiently and effectively.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data mining, experimental design, cluster analysis, building decision trees, and predictive modelling with proficiency in analytical tools such as SAS, R, SPSS, SQL, VBA, MS-Excel or other statistical software. Expert data visualization skills, with proficiency in software such as Qlikview, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Spotfire, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication - ability to interpret findings, summarize, synthesize and effectively present complex analytical insights, observations and recommendations to technical
