**_About the Role:_**
As Peterborough’s **Chief Administrative Office (CAO), **you will provide vision, leadership and guidance on the general direction and management of the organization as well as in the implementation of strategic initiatives and delivery of responsive services to the citizens and businesses of Peterborough.

Reporting to the Council, you will play a crucial role in providing overarching leadership to the City through planning, organizing, and directing the operation of all municipal services in accordance with legislation, by-laws and policies established by the Council. You will serve as the organization’s core representative to the community and community organizations, media and other levels of government, and professional associations, advising council and providing recommendations to address current and emerging issues to ensure that Council policies and programs result in the attainment of the Council’s vision and mission.

Through your strong administrative leadership, you are recognized for your commitment, professionalism, and vision to rally others to deliver on promises made, working closely with the council to foster a positive work environment, promote effective communications, resolving problems and issues and implementing strategies and policies to attract and retain employees.

As CAO, you will coordinate and oversee the strategic planning and development of an inclusive consultation process culminating in a council approved strategic plan, which includes consultation with key stakeholders and consultants to establishing appropriate planning processes. Demonstrating exceptional stewardship, you will report on meaningful and accurate management, performance, and quality service targets to align with strategic priorities. In the execution of this role, you will ensure a strong commitment towards service excellence on behalf of the municipality.

With a value-based leadership approach that is inclusive, positive, and maintains high level of integrity, you will oversee the financial management of capital work budgets, municipal assets, and infrastructure. Through Human Resource management, the CAO will oversee all human resources, supporting the training and development of the staff team and individual members as well as developing appropriate communications procedures that inform employees on the policies and directions of the Council.

**_Job Specifications: _**

Your track record of experience will also hold a minimum of fifteen (15) years working in a senior leadership role for a municipal government environment, or equivalent private sector experience. In addition, this pivotal role entails that you hold comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the Municipal Act and other relevant Acts and regulations that impact municipalities.

More importantly, you are a skilled listener, communicator and trustworthy leader who inspires commitment, openness, and integrity, capable of motivating and engaging with team members and staff, with the ability to resolve conflicts and maintain a cohesive and dedicated culture, while capable of effectively executing and prioritizing competing tasks and deadlines to get results.
