The Legislation teams at the Ministry of Children and Family Development are a dedicated group responsible for managing the ministry’s statutes, including the Child, Family, Community Service Act, Adoption Act, and Youth Justice Act. These teams play a key role in leading amendments to legislation, collaborating closely with Indigenous rightsholders and partners to support reconciliation efforts under the Declaration Act. One position is available with the established Legislation and Legal Support team, consisting of a Director, two Managers and three analysts advancing work around Indigenous jurisdiction on child and family services; the other position is part of a growing team, including a Director and two Senior Legislative Analysts, on impactful projects like Youth Justice Reform and the Indigenous Women’s Justice Plan. Your contributions will help shape critical legislative changes that directly support children, families, and Indigenous communities.

**The Role**

As a Legislative Analyst & Coordinator, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting and coordinating legislative and regulatory amendment projects, tracking progress, and providing project management and engagement support. Your work will directly impact the lives of children and youth, improving outcomes through strategic legislative reforms. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both policy and legislative analysis, with a focus on Indigenous jurisdiction and youth justice. You'll also have the chance to engage with senior executives and contribute to high-profile projects, all while enjoying flexible work options, such as a 4-day work week pilot.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**
- Bachelor’s Degree in law, social sciences, business or public administration, social work or child and youth care, or other relevant discipline;
- Minimum 1-year *related experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training and *related experience may be considered.
- **Related Experience**:

- Experience providing support in a public sector or large corporate agency where work includes the coordination of high-level, multi-faceted processes, such as policy or legislation development.
- Experience writing, editing, formatting, and finalizing documentation from written or verbal instructions or from other researched source material.
- Experience interacting with senior officials (government or private sector) for the purposes of collecting or sharing information; providing support in policy development (or similar) processes to ensure that timelines are met; and responding to other administrative or procedural requirements.
- Experience working in a confidential capacity.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing complex documents on wide range of issues, often of a sensitive/political nature.

**Preference may be given to applicants with the following**:

- Applicants who have Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in legislation and/or legal support services.

**About this Position**:
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Child and Family Development offices: Campbell River, Cranbrook, Nanaimo, Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Surrey, Port Moody, Williams Lake, Burnaby or Duncan.
This is for two (2) permanent opportunities.
