TBG is a hub for nature enthusiasts with 2,900 members, 130+ dedicated volunteers, and 30 member organizations, all contributing to a growing and passionate network of nature lovers.

Its vision is to excel in plant-focused education, captivating displays, natural area restoration, plant conservation, and research. When fully developed, its 35-acre site will welcome over 1 million visitors annually.
Annual and community giving play a pivotal role in supporting this growth. The Toronto Botanical Garden (TBG) is seeking a passionate and driven Development Associate, Annual and Community Giving to join TBG’s 20+ member team dedicated to connecting the city of Toronto—and its many visitors—with the beauty and importance of nature.
As an emerging leader in fundraising and community engagement, you will play a key role in managing and growing our membership base, as well as our annual and community giving programs. You will bring enthusiasm for fostering relationships, and expertise in leveraging technology to strengthen digital engagement with our diverse audience. Your administrative expertise will provide the foundation for these programs. As TBG expands, enhanced leadership opportunities and significant career development will be available for those involved in its mission.
**What You Bring**:
- Interest in or Experience with Membership, Sponsorship & Relationship Building: managing annual giving portfolios and fostering connections with members, donors, volunteers and sponsors through strategic cultivation and stewardship actions.
- Interest in or Experience with Marketing & Digital Innovation: A passion for exploring new technologies, including dashboards and platforms, with an interest in launching initiatives like symbolic giving and expanding TBG’s digital fundraising presence.
- Interest in or Experience with Event Planning & Execution: managing timelines, organizing resources, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless event delivery.
- Strong Administrative Skills: proficiency in gift processing, donor management, and database operations within Raiser’s Edge software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborative Skills with Eagerness to Learn: A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to learn, be mentored, and mentor others.
- Outgoing Personality and Detail-Oriented: Comfortable in a public-facing role while maintaining strong organizational and administrative skills in the background.

Your expertise in annual fundraising, digital engagement, and donor relations will be critical in shaping TBG’s future.
- Program Development (25%): Lead the execution and evolution of TBG’s annual giving and membership programs, ensuring they remain effective and engaging (annual & mid-level gifts, tribute, monthly, and symbolic giving, plus planned gifts.)
- Event & Volunteer Support (15%): Provide event support, including coordination and on-site operations for positive participant experiences. Work from time to time with TBG volunteers on development-related projects.
- Administration & Database Management (35%): Maintain accurate financial records and donor data to uphold organizational integrity; processing gifts and membership for approximately 600 donors and 2,900 members/year.
