Valard Construction LP is Canada’s premier powerline contractor, serving clients in both public & private sectors. We offer construction services in overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations.

Valard Construction LP is seeking a qualified **Project Coordinator **to join our team of project support staff in our Vaughan Office.

Project Coordinators will report to and be under the mentorship of a Project Manager assisting with moving projects forward by maintaining project schedule, cost and strong team communication, contributing to the overall success of the project. In this position, the Project Coordinator would gain field, construction industry, and project management experience while representing Valard and the assigned project.

**Requirements**:
**Planning**:

- Gather status updates on project tasks and coordinate schedule updates between the Project Management team and the Project Controls team
- Support planning activities including parallel activity coordination, developing execution plans, milestone lists and applicable timing, identifying and quantifying uncertainties and risks, and developing contingency plans

**Day-to-Day Management**:

- Provide technical support to the PM to efficiently and competently manage problems due to scope-creep, changed requirements, missed deadlines etc., and bring them back on plan or create a new plan with the assistance of key stakeholders
- Understand the unique project requirements and structure and be able to effectively communicate as a representative of Valard and the project with the Client, third parties, within the project team and with Valard corporate teams
- Coordinate communication between functional groups (Health, Safety and Environment, Quality, Project Systems, PMO, etc.) and subcontractors acting on behalf of Valard or the client with the PM’s approval
- Review and evaluate deliverables prepared by subcontractors to ensure the work meets project requirements and maintains a high level of quality
- Provide project administrative support where required
- Work with functional group leads as needed to revise scope and structure as the project progresses and needs of the client/project evolve

**Evaluation & Reporting**:

- Gather status updates and prepare project reports (daily, weekly, monthly etc.) and provide to the PM
- Accurately draft, analyze and summarize documentation for use in reports, plans, presentations, and Visio diagrams, customizing graphics and presentations as necessary for the PM to visualize the task and resource interdependencies
- Communicate and follow up directly with applicable parties on project requirements and reporting
- Track, evaluate and report on subcontractor progress and scope

**Subcontractor/Vendor Proposals**:

- Support the PM on development of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages as required including gathering technical requirements, schedule details, and commercial information to support the project
- Be the point of contact with subcontractors to investigate and answer questions related to the project

**Client Management**:

- Organize, attend, facilitate and record meetings with internal functional groups, clients. subcontractors and/or other stakeholders, taking and distributing minutes and following up on recorded actions
- Assist with facilitating the understanding of the technology in proposed solutions to clients and others (where applicable)
- Articulate design rationale and function strategy as it directly relates to accomplishing goals set out (where applicable)
- Present work to the client at milestones throughout the project
- Obtain, communicate and follow through with feedback from the client, subcontractors and service providers
- Work with client, subcontractors and service providers against scope creep and endeavor to keep project focused on the scope
- Ensure client expectations are met and exceeded in terms of the quality of the product and service delivered

**Knowledge/ Skills**:

- A degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or Project Management is preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a project environment or a desire to pursue Project Management profession
- Experience in the construction industry would be an asset
- Strong understanding of Transmission and Distribution systems, and major Substation equipment.
- Knowledge of Protection and Control, Substation configurations, Health and Safety issues and, Commissioning and Testing Processes in electrical projects would be an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of pile, caisson or grillage foundation installation and electrical transmission concepts would be an asset
- Knowledge of project management processes and best practices
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning project information and status, financial documents, and employee files
