Coast Appliances is looking for a Junior to intermediate Systems Administrator to join the technology group. This position is based out of our Vancouver head office and reports to the Sr IT Manager.
We are looking for an individual who thrives, learning new technologies and solving complicated challenges. Someone who enjoys interacting with others and working in a collaborative team, is organized and self-sufficient, and works well under pressure. If this fits your profile, we want you on our team.

This position also serves as an escalation point for the support team. In times where helpdesk is experiencing high volumes you will be required to assist with providing technical support to the end-users. Additionally, the role participates in on-call weekend coverage once a month.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Active Directory including Domain Controllers, Certificates, Azure AD, Windows Servers, Terminal Servers, Database Servers, Sophos anti-virus, Atlassian cloud
- Azure and AWS cloud environments
- Microsoft O365, Microsoft Intune & Autopilot
- Hypervisor and virtual server environment
- Meraki enterprise network infrastructure (router, switch, firewall, wireless)

- Participate in projects as assigned, ensuring completion in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Seek ways and take initiative to assist in continuous improvement of technology solutions, policies, and procedures.
- Recommend system improvements for streamlining department processes, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Assists senior technical staff with testing new technologies and methodologies.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Keep end-user hardware, accessories, printers, and phones working properly and software updated to meet the organizational needs.
- Serve as an escalation point for helpdesk support; troubleshoot and resolve Level 2 system problems either independently or as part of a team, seek and obtain support from software vendors, hardware manufacturers and/or appropriate in-house experts.
- Provide (overflow support) 1st level technical support internally to staff including rollout, upgrade and problem resolution for desktops and servers.
- Maintain knowledge base in Confluence covering topics such as servers, system software, system standards, standard operating procedures, configuration information, etc.
- Provide DevOps support to our software development team.

**Your skills**:

- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience as a Systems Administrator.
- Technical school or college diploma

- 3+ years of advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft stack:

- _Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Endpoint management [Intune], security and compliance)._
- _Windows 10 and Server operating systems, Azure AD, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects and NTFS permissions._

- 2+ years of practical experience with good knowledge of networking equipment and protocols**:Cisco Meraki**, wireless, switching, routing, TCP/IP, IPSEC, SD-WAN and remote access VPN.
- Virtual App and Virtual Desktop experience at an intermediate level (Terminal Server, Citrix or other)
- Experience deploying and maintaining hypervisor and virtual machines (VMware/Hyper-V)
- Experience with MDM systems
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
- Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Zabbix or similar.
- Up-to date knowledge of security trends and best practices.
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills (in English); Ability to communicate processes and procedures clearly and accurately in written and verbal forms.
- Ability to convey complicated technical issues to non-technical users in an easy-to-comprehend fashion.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills
- Experience building and/or administering infrastructure and services in Azure or AWS is an advantage

**Nice to haves**:

- Experience with Scale Computing KVM servers and infrastructure.
- Experience working with Ecommerce and Retail.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams Operator Connect or Teams Phone System
- Completion of Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, CompTIA, or other industry certifications an asset.
- Knowledge of SQL Server and SQL query
- Experience with Zebra scan guns and thermal printers an asset.
- Experience with DevOps is an asset.
- Experience working with Ansible scripts.
