**MANAGER, NATIONAL EVENTS AND CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Position: Manager, National Events and Chapter Development**
**Reports to: National Director of Development**
**Department: Development**
**Location: Waterloo, ON (National Office)**
**Status: Permanent, Full Time**
**Salary range: $(58,344 to 68,952)**
**Purpose**:
The Chapter Development department supports more than 150 fundraising events and 30 active communities across Canada with their strategic planning, volunteer recruitment and retention, and advocacy/awareness activities. The Manager, National Events and Chapter Development oversee all departmental activities and acts as a liaison and relationship builder between HSC and the Huntington disease community and chapter leaders.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Planning & Leadership
- Communicates effectively within the organization as well as with volunteers and external stakeholders
- Maintains a high level of employee performance through coaching, mentoring and evaluation
- Ensures individual work plans are created to achieve or exceed operational goals
- Responsible for the annual business planning and budget development for the events portfolio
- Analyzes and reports on portfolio results related to budget
- Anticipates risks and opportunities and is able to make critical decisions
- Has a long-term vision and aligns decisions strategically
- Develops and updates formal departmental policies and procedures
- Collaborates on projects and events interdepartmentally
Event Management
- Responsible for developing, and achieving departmental fundraising targets
- Project manager, directly responsible for planning and execution of HSC’s community-attended national events portfolio, including but not limited to: biennial National Conference, biennial Community Education Forums (multi-site educational events, and Annual President’s gathering
- Primary liaison for YPAHD (Young People Affected by Huntington disease), assisting in developing HD Youth programming and strategic direction, including project management of YPAHD Day and Regional YPAHD Days
- Understand and develop provincial gaming policies, preventing violations and seizing opportunities when possible Strategic development of fundraising events portfolio
- Attend planning meetings & events when possible/appropriate
Volunteer Management
- Primary contact between HSC and the volunteer community
- Support the establishment of fundraising volunteer development sessions while facilitating increased information sharing

**Specific Requirements**:
- 5+ years experience in event management with a proven record of success
- 2-3 years experience in volunteer management 2-3 years supervisory experience
- Degree or diploma in related field
- Fundraising certificate/education preferred
- Proficient with the Microsoft Suite programs
- Proficient with event management tools and software
- Hands on budgeting experience including setting fundraising targets
- Experience with conference management ideal
**Other**:
Occasional evenings and weekends with some travel to events/meetings.
