**Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (RAMWC)**
**Our Mission: We preserve and promote the stories of aviation in western and northern Canada while educating, entertaining, inspiring and connecting.**
RAMWC offers award-winning educational programing to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. With three classrooms and three certified teachers on-site, we deliver 14 STEM based learning courses and one hour guided tours of the museum. RAMWC is a world class museum with a story-based approach and 27 aircraft on display.
**The Role**
The Museum Educator delivers museum developed programs to school groups from mid September to the end of June. The grade specific programs are two hours in length (60-minute classroom program and 60-minute tour of the museum). Delivery of two sessions per day is usually required with the hours being 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. While RAMWC offers classes in early years, this role will primarily deliver STEM-based programming to students in Grades 6 to 12. Virtual programming is delivered to school groups in remote areas of the province.
The Museum Educator engages with students to inspire and connect them to future education and careers in the aviation industry. Hourly pay will be commensurate with experience.
**Responsibilities**
- Deliver 60-minute educational programs
- Deliver 60-minute guided tours of museum artefacts and aircraft
- Set-up and delivery of virtual learning classes
- Set-up on-site class rooms based on each booking
- Order and prepare supplies as needed for programming
- Collaborate with RAMWC staff and consultants on the development of new programming
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Experience working with children of all ages
- Demonstrated ability to foster engagement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Willingness to keep abreast of STEM based learning initiatives
- Experience working in a cultural organization is an asset
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Bachelor of Education (required)
- Ability to communicate in French is an asset
- Valid certification in Emergency First Aid & AED is an asset
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
