The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) stands as a groundbreaking institution in Winnipeg, the first museum in the world devoted exclusively to the exploration and celebration of human rights. The Director, Partnerships and Visitor Growth is a pivotal role designed to enhance the Museum's visibility, attract a diverse audience, and develop strategic partnerships that align with their values and goals through Centring Relationships, Modelling and Practising Human Rights Principles, Sharing Stories that Inspire Action and Hosting Transformational Experiences. This position will focus on developing and implementing strategies to increase local and national visitation, create innovative experiences, generate interest in repeat engagement, and drive growth and revenue through various channels and partnerships. This role combines elements of people leadership, social enterprise, business development and customer service, with a strong focus on building and maintaining relationships with partners, sponsors and the community.

**Position Overview**:

- Lead the development and execution of strategies to support the CMHR’s objectives, focusing on visitor growth, social enterprise, business development and operational excellence. Develop operational plans in alignment with the Museum’s strategic framework.
- Forge and maintain strategic partnerships and sponsorships to enhance the Museum's profile, with a focus on values alignment, mutual benefit and revenue generation opportunities. Develop relationships with community groups, the business community, educational institutions and other collaborators.
- Oversee the partnerships and growth as well as the special events teams to deliver exceptional experiences from entry through exit. Implement feedback mechanisms to continually improve engagement, satisfaction and impact.
- Develop new approaches to the Museum’s retail operations to bring them into further alignment with the Museum’s strategic objectives, including restaurant, boutique and event rental business lines.
- Actively manage and expand the local and national tourism portfolio, involving Museum team members as well as tourism partners to increase visitation, group tour sales and event rentals.
- Develop strategies to meaningfully engage audiences that visit the Museum for purposes unrelated to human rights, such as event rentals, boutique and restaurant visitors. Drive ongoing engagement through offers for return visitation, the membership program, and repeat event rentals.
- Manage the relationship between the Museum’s special events team with the external catering service provider, focusing on high-quality, high-impact outcomes that align with the Museum’s mandate. Transition the focus from operational to strategic, ensuring event, food and beverage services meaningfully foster relationships and enhance the Museum's reputation as a world class destination.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to the Partnerships and Growth portfolio team. Foster an environment that promotes respect, equity, inclusion and innovation. Collaborate in the integration of community engagement and Indigenous relations teams, emphasizing relationship-building and inclusive programming that offers seamless service delivery and visitor engagement.

**Ideal Qualifications**:

- A post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism) and/or equivalent experience in a related field plus a minimum of 3-5 years related social entrepreneurship, business development, or not for profit executive/senior leadership roles, ideally within a complex and multidisciplinary organization.
- Senior-level leadership experience with a proven track record in developing and executing innovative strategies for visitor engagement, partnerships, and revenue generation. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and foster an inclusive work environment.
- Deep knowledge and experience in social enterprise, business development, sales, retail management, events, rentals, or membership. Exceptional skills in developing and nurturing partnerships and managing relationships.
