The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is a national museum dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. It is the first national museum in Canada to be built outside the National Capital Region. **About the role**

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is centered around the idea that respect and understanding of human rights can serve as a positive force for change in the world. The Assistant Manager, Program Delivery will support our collective efforts to build a workplace culture that is inclusive, equitable, innovative and focused on inspiring action.

Reporting to the Manager, Program Delivery, the Assistant Manager, Program Delivery provides leadership and direction to build and strengthen our workplace culture in the program delivery service area. This position ensures world class delivery of gallery services, education programs and public programs including special and commemorative events, public and booked tours, in-gallery activities, family programs, and adult programs.

The incumbent will be a strong and thoughtful communicator, critical thinker and innovator, and will bring a collaborative approach to their role.

**What you will do**
- Creates a culture that promotes respect, equity, inclusion and innovation, and models anti-racist and accountable behaviours.
- Provides mentorship, training and coaching using performance-driven strategies focused on growth and development.
- Leads team meetings, provides leadership to program delivery staff and support to the wider visitor-facing team, and makes logístical arrangements for supporting program delivery
- Responsible for assisting with staff scheduling including approving leave, sick time, scheduling employee training and recommending overtime for management approval when and if appropriate.
- Train staff and volunteers to deliver services and programs, including new employee and volunteer orientation
- Assists in the development and implementation of the section’s work plan, budget and strategic plan, and identify financial and human resources requirements.
- Delivers school programs, tours, and public programs to the public and partners when required.
- All other duties and tasks as assigned.

**What we’re looking for**

- Education at the post-secondary level in a related field (education, history, social sciences, management, museum studies, human rights, or another area of specialty) or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant area.
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience
- Commitment to human rights principles, including respect, equity, inclusion and dignity for all.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering public, cultural or educational programs to a variety of audiences, preferably in a museum, heritage site or cultural organization.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software
- Strong knowledge of informal learning techniques, heritage interpretation, and museum education.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to accurately inform, engage and encourage participation.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations, and with diverse individuals and groups.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Creative, proactive and innovative; generates viable new approaches and solutions
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
