Supervisor of Visitor Experience

**The Role**
**The Visitor Experience Supervisor will ensure a great guest experience **at the ticketing desk, giftshop, café, and in the galleries of the museum as needed. They will help supervise staff and volunteers as well as exemplify high standards of customer service and job efficiency. The supervisor will make daily schedules, organize and possibly lead private tours and special events, train the visitor experience team, help execute merchandising plans, ensure the safety and security of our guests, process payments for admissions and sales while engaging with guests and communicating the amenities of the museum.
The Visitor Experience Agent will be outgoing and eager to talk with visitors about the upcoming events and exhibits. An interest in aviation and willingness to learn about the exhibits is desired. The agent may provide support in the galleries and is a valued member of the Visitor Experience Team striving to keep visitors entertained in a safe environment. The organization has a large volunteer base and being a team player is important to the role. This position reports to the Manager of Visitor Experience and Gift Shop.
**Job Functions**
- Supervise and train staff and volunteers while preforming daily tasks
- Provide outstanding customer service to ensure all guests have a great experience in the gift shop and in the museum
- Assist with booking private tours and birthday parties
- Help create and execute special public events
- Assist with monitoring inventory levels and maintaining high visual standards
- Welcome individuals and groups as they visit the museum
- Sell admissions and annual passes at the Ticketing Desk
- Merchandise the Gift Shop under the direction of the Manager
- Participate in Birthday Party bookings on weekends
- Attend to sales in the Café when open to the public
- Communicate with visitors about the museum’s amenities, exhibits and events
- Learn about the exhibits and be prepared to answer basic questions from the public
- Engage with guests while attending to the interactive exhibits that require support
- Actively support the safety plan of the museum
- Request visitors to abide by the museum’s rules, handle visitor complaints and de-escalate situations as needed
- Other duties as assigned & relevant to the role
**Qualifications**
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Able to work a flexible work schedule (Weekends & Holidays)
- 1- 2 years of experience in a team lead or supervisor role
- 1- 2 years experience with Point of Sale
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as a team
- Excellent time management skills
- Takes great initiative and has the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Proven attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in transactions, documentation and tasks
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English language
- Experience working with the public in a museum or cultural organization is preferred
- Valid certification in Emergency First Aid & AED is considered an asset
- Satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector search is required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (RAMWC) is located on the James A. Richardson International Airport campus in Winnipeg. The Museum is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the history of aviation in Western Canada. The Museum showcases aircraft and many unique aviation artefacts from its collection, presented from a story-driven approach. Its mission is to entertain, educate and inspire visitors.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 - 40 per week
