Established in 1976, the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS) is a **global leader** in the field of Ukrainian Studies. **Position summary**

Reporting to the Director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS), the position of Financial Coordinator is accountable for the effective and efficient management of the financial systems and the financial reporting of the Institute. The Financial Coordinator participates in budget planning and leads day-to-day operations related to all financial functions of the Institute. Working collaboratively with the Director, the Assistant Director, Research, the Assistant Director, Operations, the Finance Partner, and the Manager, of Arts Collaboration Enterprise (ACE), the Financial Coordinator builds trust and momentum to support the common vision of success. Specific areas of accountability include Institute budget and financial management, Advancement/development functions coordination, and support IT and Supply Management and coordinating all Contracts for Services.

**Duties**
- Assists CIUS Director with budget planning and reporting, providing the CIUS Director with current information on the Institute's financial position and on the financial position of the various research programs and units of the Institute.
- In consultation with Finance Partner, prepares and manages the Institute's budgets, research, trust and endowment funds.
- In consultation with the Assistant Director of Research monitors the financial aspects of the CIUS Fellowship, Scholarship, Grants and Awards Programs.
- Monitors the overall budget, according to the Institute's policies with respect to administration and scholarly functions, and alerts the Finance Partner in a timely manner of any issues that would adversely impact the Institute’s Operating position.
- Works with the Finance Partner network to maintain and monitor the financial systems for the Institute, revisiting them as necessary to ensure that they remain responsive to the Institute and compliant with Faculty, College, and University policies and procedures.
- Oversees and works with the Assistant Director of Research or another designated CIUS officer to track fund utilization and spending by research leads to ensure that funds are utilized in accordance with policies established by the Institute, the University, and the various granting agencies or donors that provide research and other funds to the Institute.
