As an Accessibility Officer, you will develop, maintain and enhance accessible services, infrastructures, information platforms, and employment practices throughout the institution, and develop AODA-required updates and multi-year plans. You will also affirm our ongoing commitment to, and demonstrate our compliance with, the AODA Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and ensure that there is adequate training, education and support in place for the campus community.

Your collaborative approach will prove invaluable in this role, as you will be working with the Accessibility Steering Committee and various working groups to provide leadership in achieving and maintaining a state of compliance in all AODA standards and governance, as well as reporting on, auditing, supporting and coordinating the various accessibility initiatives on campus. You will also serve as the campus accessibility resource expert on accessible word documents and websites, and, as such, provide mentoring, training and oversight.

As part of your Equity Officer responsibilities, you will monitor the University’s Employment Equity Program and broader self-identification data collection program for students, faculty and staff, including the coordination of ATQ data and the collection of census data, as required under the Federal Contractors Program (FCP), and the University’s Anti-Racism Action Plan. In this capacity, you will also oversee the collection of self-ID data, develop climate surveys and identify gaps in hiring, enrollment and representation at U of G for various equity-seeking groups. In addition, you will coordinate, develop, maintain, and upgrade the Equity Data Warehouse and applicable database systems with confidentiality.

All of these tasks will involve working closely with the Human Rights Advisor, Computing and Communications Services (CCS), Human Resources, and Institutional Research and Planning, to ensure that the University’s database development and testing proceeds within a framework of equity.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
To be successful in the role of Accessibility and Equity Officer, you must be a champion of equity and accessibility, with knowledge of applicable legislation and standards, and a profile that includes:

- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience leading complex policy and project initiatives, preferably in a university or other diverse corporate or non-profit entity, in the areas of accessibility, AODA compliance and/or human rights training and education.
- Experience with, and knowledge of, provincial accessibility legislation and campus standards.
- Previous experience working in partnerships with persons with visible and invisible disabilities.
- Experience working with a diversity of equity-deserving groups is strongly preferred.
- Strong familiarity with W3C Accessibility.
- Strong project management and customer liaison skills.
- High level of initiative.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities,
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
