**ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE**

Provides leadership and direction to the culinary team to ensure the highest standards of food production, quality, taste, presentation and hygiene within the home. Your goal will be to maximize colleague collaboration, Resident satisfaction and to ensure the resident experience is that of a 5 star culinary experience.

**BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS**

The following is considered mandatory for this position:

- Hands-on and is actively engaged in the running of the kitchens
- Used to working in a luxury Retirement Community

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Inspire a high level of creativity, personal commitment to service excellence and an emotional sense of gracious hospitality.
- Be passionate about food trends and creativity, current on industry practices, provide creative input to food strategies..
- Participate in recruitment, manage Colleagues and effectively coach, train, motivate, communicate, recognize, schedule, provide performance feedback, maintain high levels of team spirit and conduct performance correction, if required.
- Manage the day-to-day culinary operation through hands-on personal involvement.
- Effectively manage labor and food costs to budget.
- Ensure cleanliness of all kitchen and prep areas, personal hygiene standards for all food handlers and monthly Hygiene Audits.
- Monitor exhaust hoods, stoves, ovens, salamanders, deep freezers, steamers, filters, boiling pans, bain-marie, hot and cold cabinets etc. and ensure they are spotless and cleaned daily.
- Inspect for cleanliness, maintenance, presentation, and safety of the kitchen and ensure areas of deficiency are resolved to achieve service expectations.
- Participate in communication efforts within the department, ensuring effective communication amongst Colleagues.
- Monitor portion control, food quality, inventory, proper food storage, food freshness, departmental recycling and culinary labor costs.
- Verify that received goods are held to strict standards
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. This will include recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
- Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Completes all required mandatory training/education.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
