The Coordinator, Academic Advising and Professional Development Services (CAAPDS) advises prospective and registered undergraduate students on academic and professional development matters in the School for International Studies in accordance with University, Faculty, and School policies, procedures, and regulations. The role provides information, conducts research, and develops materials to contribute to discussions and decision-making related to the undergraduate programs, and to enhance and support student recruitment initiatives, enrolment, and retention efforts. The CAAPDS is the main point of contact for all engagement related activities, mentors, guides and supports student groups, and fosters strong relationships between students, university organizations/clubs, faculty, alumni, and the community at large.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in International Studies or a related field and two years of experience in post-secondary academic program administration, academic advising, student and alumni engagement, and planning; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of post-secondary academic and professional development programming and advising.
- Excellent knowledge of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles and practices; strong Emotional Intelligence.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise cultural sensitivity, mature judgment, initiative, diplomacy and tact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build rapport with others quickly.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision, performing under pressure, and dealing with difficult individuals while maintaining composure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages, to plan ahead by anticipating problems and to forecast outcomes.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills, demonstrating a strong attention to details.
- Excellent research skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret information.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate workshops and conduct presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, host, and facilitate public events.
- Excellent knowledge of professional development opportunities for students and work search strategies and practices.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to exercise initiative while working independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to work in the evenings and on weekends occasionally.

**Position is required to be in the office 4 days with 1 WfH day/week.**
