THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF EDUCATION, CANADA (CMEC) is an intergovernmental body providing leadership in policy development, program administration, and research at the pan-Canadian and international levels. Located in the heart of Toronto (steps from the St. Clair subway), CMEC is seeking a:
TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (BILINGUAL OR ENGLISH), LEARNING ASSESSMENT PROGRAMS

Full-time position

Contract period (fixed term): March to end of June 2024 (two contract positions available)

Current annual salary range: $44,574-$51,821 ($23.65-$27.50 per hour), depending on experience and qualifications. This position requires some in-person work at the offices of CMEC.

CMEC offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, collegial, intellectually challenging, and bilingual environment. You will work closely with the Learning Assessment Programs team to provide support with various tasks related to CMEC’s assessment programs. This position reports directly to the Coordinator, Learning Assessment Programs. It is affiliated with the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (COPE) Local 343.

Key responsibilities:

- Provide operational, administrative, and clerical support
- Assist with data entry (transferring text and codes from a paper form to an electronic one) and verification, including following up with test administrators and working with data officers to verify information
- Compile and format documents
- Package materials, documents, and equipment
- Prepare labels and packages for shipping
- Maintain an inventory of and organize equipment/materials (e.g., assessment-related documents, IT equipment)
- Perform other office duties, as deemed appropriate

Key qualifications
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of French, both written and spoken, would be an asset
- High school diploma or new graduate
- Experience in an administrative-support role would be an asset
- Excellent computer skills, in particular, experience using MS Word, Outlook, Access, and Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptability
- Highly collaborative and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift or move containers of approximately 20 kg and to stand for prolonged

periods of time may be required

Le CMEC offre l’occasion de travailler dans un milieu dynamique, coopératif, intellectuellement stimulant et bilingue. Vous collaborerez étroitement avec l’équipe des Programmes d’évaluation de l’apprentissage pour l’appuyer dans le cadre de différentes tâches liées aux programmes d’évaluation du CMEC. Ce poste relève directement de la coordonnatrice, Programmes d’évaluation de l’apprentissage. Il fait partie de la section locale 343 du Syndicat canadien des employées et employés professionnels et de bureau.

Responsabilités principales
- Fournir un soutien opérationnel et administratif général
- Aider à la saisie et la vérification de données (transfert de textes et de codes d’un support papier vers un support électronique), y compris assurer un suivi auprès des administratrices et administrateurs de test et travailler avec des agentes et agents de données pour vérifier de l’information
- Compiler et mettre en page des documents
- Emballer du matériel, des documents et de l’équipement
- Préparer des étiquettes et des colis pour l’expédition
- Maintenir un inventaire et organiser l’équipement et le matériel (p. ex., documents relatifs aux évaluations, matériel informatique)
- Fournir un soutien technique (par courriel et par téléphone) aux conseils, commissions et districts scolaires, aux écoles ainsi qu’aux administratrices et administrateu
