Manager, Planning

**Responsibilities**:
Prepare reports and recommendations for the construction of new schools and additions in accordance with the Ministry and Board Pupil Accommodation Review guidelines for consideration by the Program and Planning Committee and Board Trustees
Provide land use planning analysis and advice for selection of specific properties for future school sites.
Act as lead support for the Board’s school accommodation review process by monitoring enrolment and facility use in the Board’s planning areas and recommend accommodation scenarios where needed for Senior Board Staff’s consideration.
Attend all accommodation review meetings to provide planning support and receive stakeholder feedback on proposed accommodation strategies.
Supervise and direct the work of planning staff in matters pertaining to accommodation and enrolment planning.
Provide supporting planning and enrolment information for capital priorities business case reports.
Act as a staff resource to the Board’s Program and Planning Committee matters pertaining to school enrolment, accommodation, and sites, as well as municipal planning and development.
Provide planning input into the preparation of forecasts, projections and demographic analysis related to the Board’s future student enrolment.
Act as lead Planner for the Board for matters under the Planning Act or related land use planning issues, including report preparation and submission.
Monitor other non-development related municipal planning matters, policy, and related legislation.
Regular collaboration with municipal planning partners
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning from an accredited planning school or;
Bachelor’s degree in Geography combined.
5 years’ experience in a Senior Planner role with a school board or 2 years in a supervisory role at a municipality or planning consulting firm.
Ontario Professional Planners Institute Designation
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Certificate Preferred
**Salary range**: $97,667 -$114,231, including a comprehensive benefit plan. This is a full-time, 12-month, 35 hour per week position and is part of the Board’s union-exempt Administrative Management Group.
