**Nature of Work**: This position will report to the Associate Dean, Academic. There are multiple portfolios in this position. Roughly 50% of the portfolio will provide ongoing support to the Office of Academic Affairs in special events and other activities and will report directly to the Associate Dean, Academic. The other roughly 50% of the portfolio is responsible for supporting College of Dentistry students in their individual academic support and wellness, accommodations, access and referral to personal counselling, and financial aid services. For this portion of the portfolio, the Coordinator will report to the Academic Director(s) as the liaison between the students and the Office of Academic Affairs. The Coordinator will establish and maintain professional relations with various stakeholders such as students, staff, and faculty. The position requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing deadlines and multiple tasks. The work requires innovative problem solving, sound judgment in decision making, and an ability to manage stressful and sensitive situations with a strong commitment to creating an exceptional student experience.

**Key Areas of responsibility**:

- Provide ongoing support to the Associate Dean Academic, Academic Directors, faculty, and students. Coordinates and delivers special events (orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Connection in Motion, etc.).
- Coordinates Access and Equity Services support for students.
- Work with College of Dentistry students which includes engagement, assessment and planning, triage (including referral for services), coordinating and monitoring the services and supports provided.
- Meetings as needed with individual students, and as needed with student wellness representatives and Student Wellness Committee.
- Referral of College of Dentistry students to appropriate resources - academic counselling, career advising, personal counselling, health counselling, and financial resources.
- Respond to students who present in crisis - conduct brief intervention (counselling/coaching) to alleviate crisis and/or provide coping strategies.
- Lead student support initiatives including initiatives for students in academic difficulty and/or and requiring accommodation due to disability. Assist students in accessing appropriate accommodations for student with identified and diagnosed health conditions.
- Assist students appearing before academic, promotions, appeals panels, and those appearing before academic and non-academic misconduct panels.
- Maintain a confidential database of student encounters.
- Oversee the administration of College scholarships and awards including but not limited to maintenance of the awards’ terms of reference and award documentation.
- Prepare confidential monthly reports of student use of services and monthly reporting of number of student contacts, data on diversity, and concerns regarding student mistreatment, discrimination and harassment by program.
- Foster and advocate for an inclusive learning environment that engages diversity and supports a positive learning environment for all students.
- Oversee tracking and reporting of student absences.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Associate Dean, Academic for the preparation of documents, coordination of academic office meetings and confidential administrative matters in relation to scholarship, award and bursary matters.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
**Education**: An undergraduate degree in a relevant area is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Experience**: Three to five years of related experience working in an institutional or academic environment is required. Experience working in a dentistry or other health care related environment and familiarity with associated educational programs is an asset.
