Saskatoon, Canada University of Saskatchewan Full time

**Indigenous Student Recruitment Officer**:
**Primary Purpose**: The College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with the Teaching, Learning and Student Experience (TLSE) Student Recruitment team, is responsible for supporting intake and enrollment goals as set out by the University and the College, which include attracting quantity, quality and diversity of students to our programs. The Indigenous Student Recruitment Officer will work as part of the College of Arts and Science’s Recruitment team, and alongside the TLSE Recruitment team, supporting prospective students through the recruitment, admission, and pre-arrival/arrival phases of the student lifecycle. This position will focus strategically on initiatives and activities related to the recruitment of domestic and Indigenous undergraduate Arts and Science students, maximizing stakeholder awareness of the benefits and value of the vast array of Arts and Science degrees and certificate programs, with a focus on career competencies and readiness that Arts and Science programs will prepare Indigenous students with.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Manager of First Year Programs and Recruitment within the Undergraduate Student Office, this position will also work collaboratively with the TLSE Recruitment team. The Officer will receive resources, training, and some coordination centrally, as well as priorities, support, and primary coordination within the College of Arts and Science. The position will be primarily physically located within the College of Arts and Science. The Officer will also spend regular dedicated time with the TLSE student recruitment team. Activities and priorities of the Officer will be outlined within the undergraduate Arts and Science student recruitment strategy, which is under collaborative development between the two units.

The incumbent must be willing to immerse themselves in learning about the value and flexibility of an Arts and Science education, with special attention to those programs with the most potential for growth within the college’s unique positioning in the post-secondary landscape. In addition, the incumbent will become familiar with the more than 70 unique Arts and Science programs and their admission requirements, and the college’s research initiatives and academic priorities. As a recruitment professional, and as a representative of USask’s Student Recruitment team, the incumbent is also expected to develop a holistic understanding of the University of Saskatchewan’s programs and services, the university’s Enrolment 2025 goals, the priorities and strategies of the college and the central recruitment team, and other best practices in student recruitment.

The incumbent will enjoy working in a fast-paced, technology-rich and high-volume environment characterized by continuous change and shifting priorities. Competing deadlines and multi-tasking is the norm, and student satisfaction is of paramount importance. The volume and nature of work can vary considerably with the recruitment cycle. The ability to undertake travel while maintaining other administrative and placement functions from a distance is essential. The incumbent must be able to work both independently and as part of multiple teams to implement and deliver on agreed priorities.

**Accountabilities**:The key accountability of the Indigenous Student Recruitment Officer is to ensure the College of Arts and Science’s undergraduate enrolment targets are achieved. This is accomplished through the collaborative development and delivery of key student recruitment strategies across the enrolment funnel (prospective student, applicant, admitted student, confirmed student, registered student). Accountabilities will include:

- Working collaboratively with the TLSE Student Recruitment team, the College of Arts and Science Undergraduate Student Office, and other campus units to develop and implement an integrated undergraduate Arts and Science recruitment strategy that maximizes resources and minimizes duplication of efforts.
- Participating in the preparation, planning, and execution of recruitment and student transition events, such as the College of Arts and Science’s Orientation for new students, Major Possibilities, campus tours, as well as events organized by TLSE Student Recruitment, including Open House, U-Start, Indigenous Spend-a-Day, and other on-campus opportunities.
- Coordinating the Arts and Science Student Recruitment Ambassador (SRA) program, including training and onboarding the volunteers, overseeing Unibuddy activity and providing support to SRAs, assessing performance and awarding co-curricular record (CCR) credit.
- Fostering relationships and providing outstanding service to key influencers and stakeholders such as parents, high school counsellors, postsecondary counsellors, agents, partners, and government.
- Coordinating and participating in school and community visits, education fairs, campus tours, and stakeholder
