As the Public Relations Manager, you will be responsible for leading our PR team and managing the development and execution of public relations programs that increase consumer awareness, manage both proactive and reactive media relations, and build strong relationships with mainstream and trade media. This opportunity will suit a strong collaborator with a high level of adaptability, a passion for building powerful brand narratives, and experience in leading PR campaigns and strategies.

- Manage the development and execution of all media relations efforts and public relations campaigns to increase consumer awareness of Home Hardware including sales and marketing campaigns, brand/product launches, awards, store openings/acquisitions, corporate announcements, and events.
- Help Dealers take advantage of local media opportunities to increase their presence in their communities.
- Manage Home’s Public Relations Agency of Record.
- Work cross functionally within the organization (including but not limited to: Marketing, Merchandising, and the Leadership Team) to manage both proactive and reactive media relations.
- Manage an annual PR budget.
- Prepare for and assist with corporate events, trade shows, charitable activities and other organized sponsorship and media events.
- Assist with the management and execution of various Government Relations initiatives.
- Oversee Home Hardware’s charitable giving strategy.
- Conduct media training sessions for Home Hardware spokespeople.
- Provide strategic direction for situation management and crisis communications.
- Provide support as required for special projects (i.e.: Annual Report, company award submissions, special events and activities, etc.).

**We’re looking for**:

- Diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or Business.
- Three to five years of experience in a Public Relations management role, managing the development and execution of all media relations efforts and public relations campaigns.
- Understanding of current events and evolving media landscape to identify risks, insights, and opportunities for Home Hardware.
- Crisis management experience required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Savvy about current and emerging PR trends and methods of measurement.
- Manage media inquiries and provide counsel to spokespeople on best practices and communications strategies.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, MS Word, Outlook, media tracking and reporting through software).
- Fluency in French would be an asset.
- Willingness to work extended hours (rotating weekend on-call schedule).
- The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
