Niagara Health has committed to improving communication and connections with its interested and affected parties. Reporting to the Director, Communications and Engagement, and working collaboratively with the Strategy and Communications team, the Manager, Community Relations will lead, steward, and maintain Niagara Health's interested and affected parties engagement for all hospital related strategic priorities. The incumbent provides a high level of expertise and is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with both the internal and external community. The Manager will also effectively engage with the broader community to ensure that Niagara Health fulfills its commitment to share plans and seek input to help shape the transformation of health care in Niagara.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan, develop, lead, coordinate and support community relations initiatives to implement Niagara Health's strategic plan for community engagement, projects and initiatives
- Create opportunities to support the development of health care and community partners through educational opportunities and network development
- Liaise with the Niagara Health team to identify needs, opportunities and gaps for community engagement and partnerships
- Develop reports and metrics related to community partnership and government relations activities
- Provide community and government relations expertise and strategic advice
- Develop and manage day-to-day municipal government relationships to help advance Niagara Health's priorities
- Liaises with government staff to ensure lines of communication are open and transparent and positions Niagara Health for success
- Ensure alignment across all levels of government to ensure coordination of strategic objectives
- Proactively identifies risks and ensures that issues management strategies built in collaboration with communications are in place to protect reputation
- Provide the Communications team with issues management support

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 5-7 years of public relations, communications, government relations experience, with experience in health care an asset
- A post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized institution in the area of political science, communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field
- Experience in the implementation of engagement frameworks such as IAP2
- Strong experience working on complex projects with multiple political parties, strong political acumen
- Effective collaboration and communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior leaders, external stakeholders and political representatives
- The ability to clearly articulate strategy and goals and to oversee and track execution
- Superior writing skills, with the ability to write, evaluate, and edit a variety of documents, such as presentations, policy papers and general correspondence
- Superior analytical and problem solving abilities
- Demonstrated time management skills in a fast-paced work environment
- Full vaccination in accordance with Niagara Health's Vaccination Policy
