Labour Relation Specialist

Reporting to the Labour Relations Manager, the Labour Relations Specialist will be working in a multi -union environment, supporting front line managers and union representatives in dealing with day-to-day issues and proactively finding solutions; review bargaining agreements to answer grievances and support both management and the Human Resources Business Partners. He/she will gather data to provide accurate reporting on labour trends, market data, grievance and arbitration tracking.
Ability to travel within Ontario with a valid G drivers is needed.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Manage grievances - collect data and information to effectively track and report on
- Support Managers with interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and relevant policies
- Track and build reports for Grievances and Arbitrations
- Support the Manager, Labour Relations, with data collection for investigations, legal cases and negotiations
- Provide the Manager, Labour Relations with all training and development initiatives
- Stay up to date on labour and Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) updates and trends
- Build consistency between branches for all processes, policy, disciplinary action etc.
**Skills, Experience and Education Required**:
- Postsecondary education in Human Resources with a focus on Labour Relations and equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3-5 years working experience in a multi-union environment, supporting multiple locations with all labour relations operational initiatives
- Willing to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic environment
- Keen sense of urgency, self-driven and ability to triage based on business needs and criticality
- Proven driven mindset to take on challenges and find opportunities
- Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are extremely important to support successful interactions with managers and employees.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Need to be able to travel within Ontario with a valid driver’s license.
