**Labour Relations Specialist**

This position is based in Toronto and requires an onsite in-person presence.

**Responsibilities**:
Collective Agreement Compliance:

- Act as the primary advisor for management on the interpretation and implementation of CBA terms.
- Update policies and procedures to reflect legislative changes affecting the CBA.

Collective Bargaining Support:

- Act as project coordinator to support the Executive Director in negotiations, ensuring outcomes align with organizational goals while fostering positive union relationships.
- Consult with program directors to understand human resources needs and operational limitations
- Provide guidance in the collective bargaining process by preparing materials and analyzing employee, organizational, and HR data to identify trends and guide management on planning and decision making
- Prepare negotiation strategies, proposals, and supporting materials for collective bargaining.

Grievance Handling and HR Issues:

- Lead the grievance process from initiation through resolution, including documentation, analysis, and strategy development.
- Working closely with management to represent the organization in grievance meetings, arbitration hearings, and union-management discussions.
- Address employee and labour relations issues proactively, fostering a collaborative and respectful workplace.
- Engage constructively with union representatives, stewards, and legal counsel to facilitate open communication.

Data Reporting and Benchmarking:

- Analyze and report on labour relations trends, grievance outcomes, and workforce metrics to support strategic planning.
- Conduct benchmarking research to compare labour relations practices against industry standards.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

HR and Labour Relations Support:

- Collaborate with HR teams on projects and initiatives related to employee engagement, training, and labour relations.
- Provide training for managers on labour relations practices, compliance, and conflict resolution.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies that align with organizational values and the CBA.
- Participate in HR department documentation and reporting activities relating to labour relations
- Assist with administration and implementation of the collective agreement, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
- Assist with ad hoc HR projects, including general HR support

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in the non-profit/charitable, or social services sectors
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or similar
- Expert knowledge and experience in managing grievance processes and resolution
- Experience in presenting management positions during union and management meetings, during collective bargaining, and at grievance hearings
- Excellent knowledge of relevant provincial and federal labour relations and employment legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as active listening and presentation skills
- Ability to remain organised and accurate in a dynamic fast-paced environment with frequently competing demands and priorities
- High degree of self-initiative with a consultative and informative approach

**How We Work**:
This is a full-time role that is in-person only and operates under standards operating business hours (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with some evening or weekend requirements.

**Salary**: $65,000-$71,000

2-years Contract Position
