Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Energy Transition and Indigenous BD, the Indigenous Business Development Manager (IBDM) will own the implementation of the Indigenous Business Development Strategy within Finning Canada. This includes the development of business plans and commercial proposals with Indigenous communities and companies providing real and measurable solutions for their goals.

The IBDM will work with all industry groups (mining, construction, and power systems) to build relationships with Indigenous communities and businesses to support the business initiatives of Finning Canada. The IBDM will develop commercial plans to support large deals and proposals. This includes a focus on the management and reporting of critical factors that impact our customers and how we partner with Indigenous stakeholders. As part of this important and influential work, the IBDM will keep industry groups apprised of Indigenous-related regulations, legal decisions, policies & government decisions within the Finning Canada region.

The role requires a strong background and interest in Indigenous engagement, business development and a real desire to build meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and companies.

Job Description:

- Work with industry leaders on the development and delivery of the plan for Indigenous engagement.
- Research and determine the top strategic partnerships with First Nations / economic development corporations and Finning and work to build these relationships over time.
- Ensure every large deal (RFI, RFP, RFQ) contains the appropriate language, commercial commitments backstopped with real data in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote success stories with our external marketing and internal communications teams to ensure these are shared appropriately.
- Report on the performance of Indigenous business development, marketing, communications and training efforts.
- Support the sales organization on an as needed basis via in-depth Indigenous business engagement and business development guidance and competitive positioning.
- Develop commercial marketing and product training programs for Indigenous businesses to empower the success of the sales organization, arrange and carry out training programs.
- Serve as a liaison with Indigenous partners that will help broaden Finning’s customer solutions portfolio.
- Participate in industry association events and conferences and advisory groups as applicable.

Education & Experience:

- A university degree, college diploma, trade certificate or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of related experience, ideally working with Indigenous companies and aspects of resource development.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers and Indigenous Peoples.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and large groups over a broad range of topics.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural team.
- Commercial & business development experience within mining, construction or power systems.
- Capacity for strategic thinking to support corporate messaging to various stakeholders, external personnel, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong financial acumen.
- Ability to travel across the territory to visit customers and branches is required.
