**Company Description**
Novel Biotechnology Canada, Inc, located in Winnipeg, MB. is a biotech company on a mission to develop new solutions for manufacturing plasmid DNA and peptides. Plasmid DNA and peptides/ proteins are important materials for Cell and gene therapy. We are developing a platform that is safe, scalable, adaptable to different plasmid backbones and payloads, has improved product quality, and is many times more productive than existing systems. In addition to our R&D work, we also provide molecular cloning and plasmid production, and protein expression services to a growing base of clients.
**Requirements**:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related discipline (Masters will be considered with multiple years of relevant experience).
- Hands-on proficiency in molecular cloning techniques, such as DNA construct design, recombinant DNA techniques (Golden Gate and Gibson Assembly), PCR, genetic engineering, and interpretation of DNA sequencing data is **REQUIRED**.
- Experience with high-throughput cloning with automation is a strong plus.
- Experience in expression vectors and protein purification from microorganisms is a plus.
- Experience in microbiological aseptic techniques and clonal propagation.
- A strong understanding of molecular/cell biology and genetic engineering principles.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and data analysis skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Generates detailed and complete experimental reports, and presents data-supported conclusions in written and oral reports.
- Track record of leading and delivering on highly technical scientific projects with aggressive timelines.
- Ability to work flexibly in a collaborative and dynamic environment, and able to adapt to changing project demands, including a willingness to take on and perform a wide range of duties.
- Motivated learner, capable of quickly getting up to speed on new techniques, methods, and/or biological systems.
- Passionate and excited about scientific advancement with a strong commitment to excellence.
- Works in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines.
- 5 years of research experience (industry experience preferred)
**Responsibilities**:
- Contribute to and/or lead a wide range of R&D programs centered around strain engineering and process development for plasmid DNA and protein manufacturing platforms.
- Contribute to and/or lead external technical programs with clients (involving molecular cloning and plasmid scale up), which will require interaction with external scientists.
- Design and execute complex molecular cloning and genetic engineering experiments with mínimal supervision.
- Collect and analyze experimental data, present data at meetings, provide conclusions and outline future work plans.
- Troubleshoot experiments and identify abnormal or unexpected trends in data.
- Support all technical documentation related to projects and product development.
- May be required to perform other related duties as needed or assigned to keep the lab in good operating order.
**Salary**: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
