Formed in 2009, the Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society (MMBTS) is a member-based non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for, developing and maintaining mountain bike trails on Moose Mountain, Prairie Mountain and surrounding area near Bragg Creek, Alberta and promoting active, fun, environmentally responsible community involvement.
MMBTS is seeking a part time Administrator who is passionate about mountain biking and the trail network to support the Board of Directors to administer the planning, reporting and budget management work related to MMBTS’ activities to maintain the local trail network. Under the direction of the Board, the Administrator supports implementation of all organizational policies and procedures and work plans and is a brand ambassador of MMBTS.
**Position Summary**
The Administrator is a part time role of up to 20 hours a week based in the Bragg Creek and Calgary Area, with work on-site in the Moose Mountain area as required. The position reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors. Key duties include:
**Organizational Management**
- Oversee the general day-to-day operations of MMBTS.
- Create, revise and implement all policies and procedures for MMBTS.
- Support and engage with MMBTS Board committees, including driving initiatives to visibly improve equity and inclusion across the organization.
- Support planning and participate in the Board’s annual organizational strategic planning session and carry out those goals throughout the year.
- Collaborate with the Treasurer and/or 3rd party financial consultants to develop and oversee an annual budget that is presented to the Board for approval.
- Under the direction of the Treasurer, support financial and risk management, including budgeting, bookkeeping and payroll activities, fund development and policy development and implementation.
- Coordinate, organize and attend Board meetings (ex-officio capacity
- non-voting)
- Be a brand ambassador for MMBTS.
- Implement policies and procedures approved by the board and recommend new policies and procedures for consideration by the board.
**Personnel Management**
- Work collaboratively with staff, leadership volunteers, and key community stakeholders to accomplish goals.
- Build strong and positive relationships with staff, volunteers, membership groups and landowners, while maintaining open communication.
- Liaise and coordinate with other MMBTS staff including trail crews as needed.
- Bring recommendations to the Board for hiring another staffing-related issues.
- Set clear, realistic, and measurable goals to manage staff.
**Awareness & Advocacy Management**
- Promote awareness of MMBTS’ mission, values and goals within the community and with other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with, but not limited to, members, sponsors and supporters, the town of Bragg Creek, the Bragg Creek Chamber, Tourism Alberta, the TsuuT’ina Nation and other Treaty 7 nations as appropriate, other trail user groups and trail groups including the Bragg Creek Trails and other user and supporter groups.
- Participate in networking and community relationship activities and meetings on behalf of the organization, while cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders across MMBTS and the community.
- Oversee the activation of the MMBTS trail master plan.
**Qualifications to be considered**
- Degree or Diploma in business administration, public relations, and/or non-profit management and/or experience in leadership or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Previous experience working with non-profit boards and community organizations. Familiarity with community development/recreation planning. Experience working in a member-based organization is an asset.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of trail building / maintenance fundamentals is preferred.
- Organizational management experience including planning, program development, relationship building.
- Government relations experience.
- Fund development experience including grant writing and reporting.
- Passion for mountain biking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of financial statements and accounting practices is an asset.
