**Introduction**:
Are you a Communications expert with proven experience driving external messaging and creating engaging stories to share with audiences across Canada? Evergreen is looking for a Manager, Communications & Public Relations to help increase awareness across Canada of its brand and programming. This Marketing & Communications expert will inspire innovation, strategic thinking and creative excellence within the Marketing & Communications team, and work collaboratively across the organization to expand Evergreen’s reach as a leading not-for-profit.

**About the Role**:
This position oversees Evergreen’s Public Relations and thought-leadership functions. As both an organizational leader and team player, the Manager, Communications & Public Relations oversees all media relations, and develops communication plans for key portfolios such as smart cities. Having strengths in these areas and a flair for creative story-telling, the Manager, Communications & Public Relations develops approaches that support audience engagement strategies through effective message-driven, multi-channel communications across Canada.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Partner with other Marketing & Communications Managers to inform the strategic direction and goals of various communication initiatives
- Partner with the Director, Marketing & Communications, and cross-functional teams, to develop communications that meet the business objectives of the organization and advance the strategy with innovation and consistency
- Oversee media strategies to publicize Evergreen’s work, initiatives and events including the development of media releases and kits, and seeking and maintaining media contacts and relationships
- Speak publicly at interviews, presentations and events, and provide media training to staff as required
- Engage in risk planning and support reputation management for the organization
- Lead communications planning for Community Solutions Network working with cross-functional team to meet business objectives
- Lead development of key messages and speech writing
- Develop a thought-leadership strategy to help position Evergreen experts, including Executive and other staff.
- Contribute to evaluation documentation for reporting and analysis
- Manage associated budgets against work plans and provide guidance to the Communications team
- Provide clear direction to the other members of the Marketing & Communications team, such as the graphic designer, content specialists/writers and other team members responsible for implementation/posting/deployment
- Demonstrate an intuitive grasp of organizational structure and work effectively across departments to achieve maximum impact
- Promote and build internal commitment to an exceptional workplace culture and organizational values
- Mentor others and take an active role in their professional development

**You have the following qualifications**:

- 5+ years relevant work experience
- Post-secondary education in Public Relations, Communications or equivalent experience
- Creative storyteller with a proven track record of getting results
- Experience creating and executing media relations and communications planning with ability to collaborate on projects spanning multiple departments.
- Knowledge of the digital landscape including; web, social media and emerging trends
- Understanding of media monitoring software Meltwater and Canadian News wire
- Proven project management skills
- French verbal and written skills an asset
