ContainerWest is looking to hire a self-driven individual with a proactive attitude to be our Sales Representative for Custom Container Enclosures. This role offers excellent variety and challenge --- you will work alongside customers, engineers, and tradespeople, allowing you to develop interpersonal and technical skills. We will share our estimating and sales experience, and you will learn about steel buildings (construction materials, steel shapes, electrical components, trucking, craning, welding, manufacturing, and various codes, and standards).

This role will focus on our everyday customers and the broader industrial market. In addition to initiating estimates, quotes, and sales orders, you will be responsible for gathering project requirements from customers and being the primary post-completion contact. Furthermore, you will help the Marketing team with post-project content and market intelligence. Talking to customers, attending industry events and trade shows, reading industry publications, and even visiting a few sites or projects will also be a part of this role.

With our established customer base this is not a hard sell business. In fact, it is not really selling at all and more like identifying needs and creating a product to match. We do not need sales experience, or really any experience at all. We do expect that you will be able to:

- Establish and honor deadlines
- Write simple proposals and quotes
- Create accurate spreadsheets
- Understand our core materials and construction methods (welding, carpentry, electrical etc)
- Interact respectfully with customers and co-workers
- Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism
- Demonstrate communication, negotiation, and people management skills
- Ask lots of questions

We would prefer post secondary education, either a university degree or diploma.

Additional responsibilities of the job include the following:

- Developing strategic initiatives to drive revenue growth
- Developing deeper relationships with existing strategic industrial accounts
- Conducting market research to stay abreast on market trends and identifying opportunities to add value to the overall growth of the organization

A rough breakdown of time might be:
Respond to sales calls and web inquiries (with estimates & quotes) - 25%

Generate & follow-up on sales leads, work with marketing - 40%

Open sales orders and coordinate with Production - 10%

Project completion administration, documentation with photos - 10%

Visit customers, trade shows etc. 10%

Professional Development, technical learning - 5%

The sales part is relatively easy as we offer great value and work hard to solve the customer’s problem; we also have a great list of existing industrial customers These are industrial products and most interactions will be focused on design, features and benefits. We can teach sales skills, but it helps if you are comfortable around people and confident enough to ask for the order or defend a superior design.
