**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Federal-Provincial Relations, the Federal-Provincial Relations Analyst is responsible to support the Ministry and the Government of Alberta by providing program and policy advice and administration to support priorities of the Ministry. The Federal-Provincial Relations Analyst supports broader federal-provincial programs and Ministry initiatives, by conducting environmental and jurisdictional scans, literature reviews, research, and analysis to support evidence-based policy development and management decisions. Other responsibilities include issues and project management, communication management, and supporting the review of initiatives required to achieve the department’s internal objectives.

The primary responsibilities of the Federal-Provincial Relations Analyst include (but are not limited to):

- Supporting Alberta's administration of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), in collaboration with ministry partners and the federal government.
- Supporting key Ministry priorities and other federal-provincial-territorial (FPT), provincial-territorial (PT), and cross-ministry initiatives.
- Coordinating with partner ministries to support the administration of legacy federal funding programs.
- Furthering the objectives of Alberta's Federal Infrastructure Advocacy Strategy.
- Providing strategic advice and direction on new federal infrastructure funding and other intergovernmental initiatives.
- Supporting the development, implementation, and administration of new federal infrastructure funding programs.
- Facilitating information sharing across the ministry and to ministry partners related to legacy or new federal infrastructure funding programs.
- Remaining current and informed, as well as track, monitor, and evaluate FPT priorities, issues, initiatives, agreements, policies, and programs.
- Conducting research and environmental scans, analyzing data, and providing strategic advice and direction related to Alberta's position on federal infrastructure funding and initiatives.
- Drafting briefing notes, correspondence, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and other materials.

**Qualifications**:

- University graduation in a related discipline (Ex. Political Science, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, etc.) plus two (2) years of relevant and related experience, or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Knowledge / Requirements**:

- Knowledge of the ICIP, Integrated Bilateral Agreements and program guidelines.
- Knowledge of intergovernmental relations practices, federal and provincial grant approaches, and processes.
- Strong communications and issues management approaches and methods.
- Effective analytical and judgement skills to develop sound recommendations.
