MacEwan University is seeking an Athletics Event Coordinator for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Athletics department. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role oversees 50-70 annual game day events and summer camp activities for Griffins Athletics, ensuring strict adherence to all University and Department policies, as well as Canada West and U SPORTS rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating and overseeing the implementation of programs, activities, and events within the Athletics Event Management Plan;
- Coordinating game day staff assigned to the event, ensuring appropriate coverage and assigning tasks and responsibilities to staff;
- Developing a marketing plan and strategy to encourage participation in varsity game day activities, youth camps, and community activities, including the planning and execution of promotional events and sponsor recognition;
- Coordinating the effective delivery of athletics events;
- Tracking data regarding ticket sales and attendance demographics to help inform marketing and engagement tactics and strategies;
- Ensuring that all Griffins Athletics events meet the requirements of U SPORTS, Canada West and MacEwan University policies and procedures;
- Maintaining inventory of equipment, supplies, outerwear, and promotional items;
- Capturing event content and creating timely, engaging, and relevant posts for various social media platforms;
- Researching new engagement opportunities with local partners and the surrounding community to support the growth of Griffins Athletics;
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with various local partners and stakeholders;
- Facilitating fan experience activations, assisting with organizational community outreach, and developing community service initiatives;
- Building a plan for community engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure the Griffins brand is present and recognizable in the Edmonton community;
- Organizing, distributing, tracking and managing ticket sales; and
- Creating reporting for engagement initiatives and ticketing.

**SKILLS**
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of best practices and considerations to facilitate successful athletic events;
- The ability to coordinate assigned events staff and delegate tasks;
- The ability to plan, create and execute marketing plans;
- A passion for athletics-related events;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- A proven commitment to customer service and excellent user experiences;
- The ability to work with a diverse range of clients and colleagues;
- The ability to work independently and be adaptable;
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment; and
- Knowledge about social media account management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A minimum of a diploma in sports management, business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience organizing, hosting, and coordinating events, preferably athletic events, including set-up, take-down, logistics, training, registration, and scheduling.
- Experience with sport-specific stats programs and broadcast technology.
- Experience in a multi-faceted sport facility or university sport is preferred.
- Equivalences may be considered.
