Human Resource/ Payroll Coordinator

Oakville, Canada SM Cyclo of Canada, Ltd. Full time

This position provides support in functional areas of human resources including but not limited to employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting, personnel record maintenance, training records, organization development, payroll and special projects.

**Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)**:

- Assist in development and maintenance of employee engagement programs and coordination of human resource events.
- Place advertisements for open positions and research other recruiting strategies.
- Schedule interviews, screen and recommend prospective employees for employment.
- Process paperwork for new employees and enter employee information into the payroll system, time and attendance system, training platform and benefits program.
- Participate in new employee orientation.
- Answer employees’ inquiries regarding time and attendance system, benefits program and payroll system.
- Completes all filing into employee personnel files.
- Prepare annual employee performance evaluation packages
- Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities such as headcount report and organizational charts.
- Assist in policy creation and maintenance.
- Administers employee recognition programs, service awards,
- Monitor and arrange volunteer and mandatory training.
- Maintain training records
- Process semi-monthly payroll.
- Review time sheets, verify attendance and track overtime usage.
- Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
- Participate in various month-end tasks (journal entries, etc.).

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Degree or certificate in Human Resources or another related field
- 3+ years HR experience
- Previous payroll experience
- Previous experience with a HRIS system (Dayforce preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Legislation (Employment Standards, AODA, OHS, etc)
- Experience developing employee engagement programs preferred
- Ability to foster a collaborative relationship among all other functional areas in the company
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be highly organized team player with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, with advanced knowledge in Excel (Pivot tables, V-look-ups).
