ACI Brands Inc. is one of Canada’s largest multi-divisional suppliers of consumer products, focused on all channels of Canadian and U.S. retail. Located in Oakville at the Mississauga border, our dynamic company has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources & Payroll Manager.
The Human Resources and Payroll Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the operations of the Human Resources department. He or she develops and implements policies, programs and procedures regarding human resource planning, recruitment, training and development, occupation classification and compensation and benefit administration. The Human Resources and Payroll Manager develops and manages employment programs, salary compensation and job evaluations, promotions, equal opportunity initiatives, and education and training programs. This individual will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of preliminary and final payroll reports, time sheets, spreadsheets and funds distribution, assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, and company policies. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
**Job Duties**
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of human resources and personnel departments.
- Plan human resource requirements in conjunction with other departmental managers.
- Co-ordinate internal and external training and recruitment activities.
- Advise and assist other departmental managers on interpretation and administration of personnel policies and programs.
- Organize and conduct employee information meetings on Group Benefit Plans and The Group RRSP Plan.
- Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Pay Equity Act.
- Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems, and health & safety programs.
- Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants.
- Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion and employee benefits.
- Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
- Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
- Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices.
- Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination.
- Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Prepare and follow budgets for personnel operations.
- Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions.
- Deliver full recruitment services including front end needs analysis, job postings, sourcing, interviewing, and employee offers.
- Build strong relationships with local organizations, recruitment agencies, educational institutions, learning and development suppliers to enable ACI Brands Inc. to achieve business objectives.
- Take a lead role in developing partnerships with local educational institutions, identifying and implementing a strong co-op recruitment program.
- Assist with the identification of training needs, the selection, development and delivery of appropriate programs.
- Provide coaching and resources to employees and managers with respect to career development, compensation, staffing initiatives, performance management and employee relations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels.
- Coordinate the payroll process with other departments for the purpose of delivering services in conformance with established guidelines.
- Monitors assigned payroll activities and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring effective department functioning, coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements.
- Prepares and oversees the preparation of a variety of payroll related documents (e.g. invoices for overpayments, retirement plan transfers, payroll register, stop payments, worker's compensation checks, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues; meeting compliance requirements, and providing audit references.
