**About Us**:
The Office of the Alberta Health Advocates assists Albertans in dealing with concerns about services impacting their health, and in becoming empowered and effective advocates. The Office represents the voices of Albertans in the ongoing development of the health system.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Alberta Health Advocate, the Director is accountable for the management of operations of the Office of Alberta Health Advocates and in facilitating the execution of the legislated mandate for the Health Advocate as set out in the Alberta Health Act and Mandate for the Mental Health Patient Advocate as set out in the Mental Health Act.

The Director must be knowledgeable about emerging health issues impacting Albertans, develop and implement operational plans, processes, and effective measures to meet legislative requirements, support and direct office staff, provide leadership in key initiatives to support the Advocates and liaise with key stakeholders and government officials across ministries.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct research and strategic analysis of systemic gaps and trends, current health issues,, health system policy, program and service issues impacting Albertans
- Develop recommendations on issues to be presented to ministerial report and public communications
- Develop & implement recommendation actions plans
- Participate in legislative and policy review & prepare recommendations for legislative, regulatory and policy amendments
- Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders such as representative of Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, regulatory colleges and various members of community groups
- Develop and implement core business plans (including a strategic plan, operational plan, business continuity plan and performance plan) and provide regular progress reports to the Advocates
- Develop and implement policies, processes, procedures and evaluation strategies to analyze emerging successes, trends, issues and gaps relevant to services provided by Alberta Health Advocate
- Liaise and build a supporting business relationship with contracted service providers and legal/legislative services as you will be managing various deliverables and legal consultations on client files, legislative analysis and interpretation, as well as the development of review and complaint resolution processes.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**
A university degree in a related field (including but not limited to Human Services, health, social work, social science or law) as well as 6 years of progressively responsible experience is required

**Required**:

- Minimum 3 years of management experience is required
- Experience leading strategic planning is required
- Experience reviewing and analysis trends and data base information is also required
- Experience working in the Health Care environment
- Completed change management training
- Completed mediation training
- Completed conflict resolution training

**Asset**:
Completion of communications training and experience working within a multi stakeholder environmental without authority will be considered assets.

**Salary**:
$ 3,394.66 to $ 4,631.75 bi-weekly. ($88,600- $120,888 / year)
