**We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking Digital Communications Specialist, who will be responsible for creating, producing and managing strategic digital, video and multimedia projects from initial concept to completion. This work will advance university priorities and to further support the goals of University Advancement. The role creates a variety of content to support the university and University Advancement’s strategic priorities.**

**Job Summary**:
This position is responsible for making a positive commitment to University Advancement’s mission, vision and values and principles: Integrity, Quality, Respect, Service, Strategy and Teamwork.

**Accountabilities**:

- Create, edit and produce digital and multimedia branded content and storytelling assets to support University Advancement (UA) and university goals.
- Use design tools and multimedia solutions to generate meaningful and impactful digital content.
- Develop original and custom graphic designs and communications which may include, but are not limited to, funding proposals, concept papers, newsletters and reports, social media campaigns, websites, supporting the Brighter World brand and other communications.
- Shoot, edit and produce a range of high-quality, impactful video content to engage funder audiences.
- Consult with campus partners and collaborators regarding project requirements.
- Provide insights and recommendations to produce engaging content to meet specific needs.
- Develop a cost-effective strategy for all design work produced.
- Create and gather text, graphics, illustrations, and photo images.
- Design, post and monitor the alumni social channels.
- Gather and compile pertinent information necessary to complete projects.
- Deliver training to internal campus partners.
- Research and implement current trends and practices to produce effective communication pieces.
- Provide design advice to various audiences.
- Proof and edit material for accuracy and completion.
- Troubleshoot technical problems with software.
- Adhere to established university and external deadlines and timelines.
- Keep abreast of new developments in software and hardware as department usage and software features are upgraded.
- Keep abreast of developments and trends in digital and multimedia communications and technological advancements.
- Participate in University Advancement and/or department/faculty projects such as project teams, committees, and work teams.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Multimedia or related field. A McMaster degree would be an asset
- Requires a minimum of four years of prior experience
- Advanced level of proficiency in digital and visual communications including graphic design
- Experienced in using Adobe suite of design tools to generate meaningful and impactful digital content
- Experienced videographer and video editor with a strong knowledge of Adobe Premier. Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and motion graphics is an asset.
- Experienced in WordPress Content Management System
- Experienced in Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok social channels
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills (e.g. written and public speaking)
- Project management and organizational skills
- Excellent customer-service skills and strong service orientation
- Time management and multi-tasking abilities
- Superior attention to detail and design
- Knowledgeable about McMaster University policies and guidelines and University Advancement policies and procedures
