ONA has developed an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression (ARAO) Action Plan, as part of the Strategic Plan 2021-2026. This plan informs, renews and strengthens our resolve and commitment to collaboratively co-create a more racially just, equitable working culture. Through the implementation of Priority 1 of the ARAO Action Plan, which focuses on Reconciliation, this position will work closely with other teams, including the Anti-Racism Advisory Team, Human Rights and Equity Team, Legal Department, Membership Education Team, Human Resources and the Staff Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

**This is what else you can expect from this dynamic role**:

- Lead the implementation of Priority 1: Reconciliation, of the ARAO Action Plan.
- Provide support to the ARAO Standing Committee, Anti-Racism Advisory Team, Human Rights and Equity Team and Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
- Develop communication material for members in partnership with the Communications and Government Relations Team.
- Work effectively with internal stakeholders, including the ARAO Standing Committee, Member Education (ME) Team, Member Experience/Events, the Anti-Racism Advisory Team and the Human Rights & Equity Team.
- Build and maintain relationships to realize ONA’s commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity principles.
- Accountable for understanding ONA’s strategic outcomes as it relates to implementing the ARAO Action Plan and how one’s individual role relates to ONA’s broader outcomes.
- Accountable for having a working knowledge of ONA’s governing policies, the Constitution, Operating Standards and Guidelines.
- Accountable for identifying risks and opportunities related to ONA achieving its goals/mandate.
- Accountable for identifying skill, knowledge and resource gaps as required to perform tasks.

**What we are looking for**:

- Demonstrated connection with Indigenous communities and other Indigenous networks.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree which includes courses in one or more of the following areas: Indigenous studies, equity, social justice, human rights law, Indigenous rights, anti-racism, anti-oppression, critical disabilities, intersectionality, cross-cultural communication, and culturally aware trauma-informed practice.
- Experience with, and commitment to the promotion of Indigenization, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility.
- Post-secondary education in Adult Education preferred, or actively engaged in pursuing such designation.
- Experience in learning and development with expertise in anti-racism, anti
- oppression, and decolonization is preferred.
- Experience in needs-based educational program development, design, and implementation is preferred.
- Must have experience in facilitation, adult learning, and professional development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of racism, in theory and practice, and how it operates from an intersectional perspective with other identities including (but not limited to) gender identity, gender expression, age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, language, health status, appearance, ability/disability, family status, etc.
- Experience in the design, facilitation, and management of organizational initiatives to stated outcomes.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the goals and strategies of Indigenous, Black, Racialized and historically underrepresented health-care advocacy groups, including Indigenous Primary Healthcare Council, Black Health Matters, and Rainbow Health Ontario.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of how systemic racism, exclusion and the concerns of Indigenous, Black and historically underrepresented groups play out in rural, suburban and smaller urban centres in these regions.
- Demonstrated trauma-informed skills and ability to respond with cultural awareness to individuals who have experienced or witnessed intersectional forms of racism is preferred.
- Bilingual English/French would be an asset.
