**What can I expect to do in this role?**: You will:

- identify, analyze and respond to potentially contentious issues
- coordinate the production of issues notes, ensuring accuracy of information and consistency with current policies and initiatives
- provide strategic advice and communications expertise to the minister, deputy minister and senior management
- produce and maintain the minister's housebooks, monitor Question Period, and prepare issues management forecasts
- act as alternate media spokesperson when required

**How do I qualify?**:
**Communication Skills**:

- you are an effective communicator.
- you can prepare a range of communications materials and ensure written materials are accurate.
- you have experience providing timely advice to a variety of clients (e.g., executives, managers, staff, members of the public).
- you have consultative and negotiation skills to support all areas of the issues management process

**Knowledge of Issues Management**:

- you have extensive experience with issues management.
- you have knowledge of policy and legislative development, political decision-making and political acuity

**Knowledge of Media Relations**:

- you have experience with media and public relations.
- you can assess public opinion, media perceptions and stakeholder positions to develop and implement strategic responses to media inquiries

**Research and Analytical Skills**:

- you have research and analytical skills to effectively monitor, analyze issues, tdevelop issues strategies and provide strategic advice and responses
