**Special Projects Coordinator & Content Writer**

**Job Type**: Contracted full-time (35 hours/week)

**Contract Length**: April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025

**Salary**: $28/hour

**Reports to**: Special Projects Team Lead

CanAssist is a unique and innovative organization at the University of Victoria (UVIC) that envisions a society where all people have the opportunity to participate, contribute and reach their full potential.

CanAssist is seeking a Special Projects Coordinator & Content Writer (SPCW). This unique position, located at the University of Victoria, focuses on supporting accessibility and inclusion consulting projects that are time limited in nature and currently focus on supporting the BC Child Care Community.

This project will involve researching best practices for inclusive supports for children in their early years, and engaging the BC Child Care community to learn what is working best in the field. The resources we develop reflect the voices and values of the community we serve. In this role, the immediate priorities will be drafting and editing online training content with a shift towards the coordination of other project deliverables later in the project.

Position Responsibilities:
In this role (SPCW), you will support the team with the project management and writing.

**Content Writing**:

- Writing tasks will include, but are not limited to, creating training materials, infographics, newsletters, progress reports, and briefing notes.
- Coordinate, create, and edit all content for the project
- Break down complex information into plain, concise, and clear language
- Ensure materials are professional, polished, and presented accessibly to each stakeholder group, including but not limited to:

- Child Care Providers, leaders, and directors (ECEs, ECEAs, Family Child Care Providers, others involved in the provision of child care)
- Parents, caregivers, and families

**Project Management**:

- Develop and implement project tasks specific to written content and other duties designated by the Team Lead
- Lead meetings within the project team and with community members providing updates regarding written content
- Prepare and present information in various formats to diverse audiences
- Develop materials and programs for user engagement
- Assist with developing and implementing consultation strategies
- Analyze and incorporate feedback into written materials
- Prepare presentation materials and work on other specific components of the project team’s work as assigned by the Special Projects Team Lead

**Experience**:
**Required**
- Undergraduate degree
- At least 3 years of relevant writing and/or project management experience (volunteer/advocacy, personal, and/or professional)

**Preferred**
- Experience working on complex projects (with many deliverables)
- Knowledge related to inclusion and inclusive practices, child development, early childhood health, and child care is a strong asset
