Accounting Analyst

Capstone Infrastructure Corporation (“Capstone”) is an independent power producer focused on providing clean, renewable energy to homes and businesses across North America. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Capstone currently develops, owns and operates thermal and renewable power generation facilities totalling over 824 MW of installed capacity across 31 facilities in Canada.

Capstone Infrastructure Corporation is seeking an Accounting Analyst, to work with the finance team. This role will report to the Manager, Finance. Finance undertakes the financial management and reporting for Capstone Infrastructure Corporation, and the various assets which this company manages. The Finance department consists of 21 people to support the business growth of Capstone. This position plays a key role to the success of the finance team.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

- Ensure integrity and completeness of financial records for assigned operating and development power businesses, as well as corporate entities, by preparing reconciliations and documenting accounting conclusions.
- Assist with preparation and review of quarterly and annual reports including financial statements, MD&A, supporting schedules and finance-related board papers.
- Prepare variance analysis and other management reports.
- Coordinate and prepare all associated partner and lender reporting.
- Perform internal control testing for NI52-109 compliance.
- Support treasury processes for cash management and forecasting for assigned entities.
- Assist with preparation of annual legal entity financial statements.
- Maintain tax records and coordinate and review tax calculations with tax VP.
- Prepare, document and coordinate support for external auditors.
- Assist Asset Managers with inputs for valuation models by ensuring accurate financial information for business planning and forecasting.
- Assist as needed with systems implementations, systems administrative support and banking relationships.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as requested.

Qualifications & Background:

- Minimum 3-5 years practical working experience in accounting required, in public accounting firm or private sector finance team, preferably working towards a CPA.

**Interpersonal Skills**:

- Ability to communicate and work well in a collaborative team environment and to interact with all levels of staff, including senior management, Finance and personnel at operating businesses.
- Ability to build constructive relationships with external parties (e.g. lenders, partners, auditors, suppliers).
- Willing to take ownership and accountability for tasks and see them through to completion.
- Accepts responsibility by holding the line on quality and meeting deadlines, take initiative, and appropriately elevates issues to superiors.
- Ability to gain the support of the Finance team and operations colleagues.

**Technical Skills**:

- Experience with capital-intensive businesses is an asset.
- Experience in IFRS accounting, internal control, and general ledgers (GP Dynamics, Vena, concur experience is an asset).
- Ability to review your own work and integrity to provide consistently high-quality deliverables to senior team members.
- Ability to recognize issues that arise from own work; accurately assess the impact, make recommendations, and implement solutions.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, manipulation, and problem solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
