Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Analyst is responsible for processing and validating the payroll accounting requirements across OMERS and Oxford Properties. As a key member of the team, the Analyst will partner with various stakeholders within the Enterprise to execute on critical activities related to the processing and reconciliation of payroll accounting feeds and entries, including domestic and international payrolls and other month-end duties as required.
In addition, the Analyst will play a key role in streamlining and optimizing the processes and controls governing the recording of payroll costs in the general ledger. We have recently transitioned to a new ERP system - Oracle Cloud - and are invested in leveraging all available tools to increase the efficiency of our reporting processes. The Analyst will work closely with the Manager and cross-functional teams to implement new processes, systems, and procedures, while identifying opportunities for improvement. The person who fills this role will be a key member of the OMERS Corporate Finance team. Our ambitions are high: we aim to be the best corporate finance team in the Canadian pension industry.

**Responsibilities**:
Continuously challenge current practices and offer fresh perspectives for optimization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business operations and develop strategies for streamlining procedures.
Prepare and upload weekly/bi-weekly/monthly payroll journal entries.
Prepare bank and other general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare variance and trend analyses.
Collaborate with other departments to investigate and resolve differences.
Take ownership and coordination of workflows within the Payroll Accounting team ensuring all timelines and service levels are met.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as Payroll Advisory, Property Managers, and other accounting and FP&A teams across OMERS.
Prepare working papers for external auditors as required.
Update and maintain process documentation.
Participate in technical training and development opportunities.
Participate in other accounting duties and ad-hoc projects, as required.
**To succeed in this role, you have**:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting entries, ideally with experience in payroll accounting.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Very strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and a proactive mindset with a passion for questioning conventional methods.
Adaptable mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous learning.
Results-oriented and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Finance and HR systems, experience with Oracle, JD Edwards, Ceridian Dayforce, and Workday would be an asset.
