**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Director, Medical Staff Support and Resources, the Leader supports strategic program planning and priority initiatives within Medical Staff Support and Resources (MSSR) in alignment with Medical and Academic Affairs priorities and the Island Health Strategic Plan. The Leader will provide leadership and coordination of the quality assurance and improvement activities within MSSR teams (Medical Staff Workforce Planning, Recruitment, Credentialing and Privileging, Governance, Enhanced Medical Staff Support). The Leader works with team leaders and members, as well as other relevant partners to achieve initiative goals and deliverables through facilitation, tracking, reporting, effective communication skills and implementation of workplans.

This position is intensely complex due to the inherent unique characteristics of medical staff culture and their role as independent contractors. Furthermore, the environment in which medical staff practice adds an additional layer of complexity due to the influence of many external factors such as the role of Doctors of BC, the Joint Clinical Committees, the current political climate, local municipalities, the influence of the Ministry of Health and the Physician Master Agreement.

The Leader develops, fosters, and maintains strong collaborative working relationships with the Medical and Academic Affairs leadership, Medical Staff and Medical Leaders, Executive Medical Directors, Senior Island Health leaders, and other internal and external partners.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in health-related field, public administration or leadership, and a minimum of five (5) years' experience working within a large complex organization, or equivalent level of experience and training.

- Knowledge of quality improvement and change management processes and tools.
- Ability to foster collaboration and effective working relationships that contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging and competing demands within a limited timeframe.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and project management.
- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
- Ability to synthesize and interpret complex concepts and data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents.
- Strong planning, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead in the areas of program and policy development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt.
- Strong organization and administrative skills.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role.
