The Manager, Medical Staff Recruitment, Credentialing & Privileging (Manager) is responsible and accountable for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to support all aspects of medical staff recruitment, credentialing and privileging, and related issues, in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules policies and procedures to support safe and quality health care. Reporting to the Director, Medical Staff Support, and working in partnership with the Medical Director, Medical Staff Recruitment, Credentialing & Privileging (Medical Director), the Manager is a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team responsible for the effective integration of strategic and operational initiatives to support and engage medical staff across Island Health.
As an expert in physician engagement, the Manager recognizes the complexities of leading change with a diverse group of physicians. This position is intensely complex due to the inherent unique characteristics of physician culture and their role as independent contractors. Furthermore, the environment in which physicians practice adds an additional layer of complexity due to the influence of many external factors such as the role of Doctors of BC, the Joint Clinical Committees, the current political climate, local municipalities, the influence of the Ministry of Health and the Physician Master Agreement. The Manager develops, fosters, and maintains strong collaborative working relationships with the Medical Affairs leadership, Executive Medical Directors, Senior Island Health leaders, and external stakeholders.
The Manager provides leadership in the development and implementation of assigned strategic projects/programs/tasks. This position is responsible and accountable for leading a team through the planning, delivery, and evaluation of these strategic projects and services.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a relevant human services field or Business Administration plus seven (7) years recent related experience in healthcare at a high degree of complexity in area related to medical practitioners, leadership, relationship building, quality assurance, strategic initiative development and implementation.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Leadership experience in program development, analysis and measurement utilizing continuous quality improvement methodology.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and highly developed interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills to support a geographically distributed team.
- Ability to build strategic internal and external partnerships and alliances to inform best practice and influence change.
- Ability to function autonomously and within political environments exercising a high level of judgment to facilitate consensus and persuade/negotiate with a variety of local, municipal, provincial and national stakeholders.
- Superior written skills including ability to prepare and deliver concise analyses, reports, briefing notes and recommendations to multidisciplinary audiences.
- Direct experience working collaboratively and effectively with medical practitioners.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex legal/regulatory issues and ability to adapt readily to a rapid and changing environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to client focused services to a geographically diverse population with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to lead, participate and facilitate teamwork across inter-disciplinary groups to foster culture change.
- Ability to effectively manage operating budgets, interpret and report financial information.
- Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle to facilitate travel within a multi-site organization.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
