Why is this role important?
- The Health Human Resources (HHR) program of work at CIHI is evolving to better meet HHR planning and policy needs, health system performance and overall population health. This growth includes helping to stand up an HHR Centre of Excellence (CoE) to enable access to more and better data on the health workforce and support health workforce planning capacity, improving Canada’s health system as a whole, and driving forward health system transformation. Work will support helping to stand up the CoE.
- Key activities include supporting establishment of a governance model for the CoE, hosting a national HHR forum for Canada, corporate reporting, stakeholder engagement, internal and external consultation, preparation of business cases, presentations, briefing notes, research, environmental scanning, and other deliverables as required.
- What you'll do
- 1. Leads support, including setting agendas, preparing relevant documentation, coordinating information dissemination, and undertaking follow-up activities as required to support stand up of an HHR CoE.
- 2. Pursues new and fosters on-going relationships with key internal and external stakeholder groups, to ensure coordination and collaboration for the HHR CoE.
- 3. Prepares briefing notes, environmental scanning, workshops, forums, and presentations on key HHR CoE initiatives for internal and external audiences.
- 4. Monitors the health information and digital health landscape to identify emerging HHR issues and opportunities.
- 5. Collaborates across CIHI HHR teams, branches, and divisions, as required, and ensures coordination of linked products and services.
- 6. Develops and mentors direct reports through regular coaching, career planning and performance management. Appraises team members’ strengths and weaknesses, and ensures tools and systems are in place to retain top performers. Motivates individuals by highlighting their impact within the HHR portfolio and the broader organization. Leads by example.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Graduate degree in business administration, public policy, health information sciences, or social sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years’ experience working in a health or business-related field.
- 3 years of supervisory experience with a strong record of successful team engagement.
- Knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, health data standards, data collection, data management and data access mechanisms.
- Experience managing complex project(s) in a matrix environment, with a high level of accountability for their completion.
- Innovative and strategic thinker.
- Ability to develop trusted relationships at all levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including preparing briefs and discussion papers, and delivering presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Experience working in the field of health information, analysis and research is a definite asset.
- Fluency in English required, bilingualism in English and French an asset.
- Ability to fulfil travel requirements.
