Every day employees in the City produce both digital and physical City records. These records are governed through the Corporate Records and Information Management program, overseen by the Office of the City Clerk. As program and project leads, Corporate Records Business Leads must use their records and information management expertise and strong analytic skills to help employees manage City Records in technical and non-technical environments. Corporate Records Business Leads are also responsible for developing corporate training, standards, guidelines and procedures with implementable best practices to reduce risks and increase efficiency.
Guided by the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:
- Research and develop policy and policy tools for the administration of the Corporate Records and Information Management program, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards
- Develop, maintain and execute disposition programs for all environments with Corporate records, information and data
- Be proficient with the City’s records management software (RMS) and provide technical and administrative assistance to department and branch records leads using the RMS
- Analyze processes as technology and records management matures and modernizes; adapt processes where applicable
- Provide advice and guidance to department and branch leads on corporate records and information management; assist with RIM compliance audits and action plans
- Identify records and information management risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Review and analyse relevant legislation, operational requirements, technical capabilities and historical value as it applies to the City’s Classification and Retention Schedule; work with business areas when a retention schedule change request is submitted
- Analyze information and categorize record types to meet legislated retention and security classifications
- Other related duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- University graduation in Business Administration, Library Sciences or a related discipline with course work in records management
- **OR** a diploma in Business Management or a related discipline with a Records Management Certificate
- Certified Recor;ds Management (CRM) designation is an asset
- With a Diploma: Seven (7) years progressive related work experience in the records management of which five (5) years are with a government body and three (3) years experience with project management
- With a Degree: Five (5) years progressive related work experience in records management of which three (3) years are with a government body and two (2) years with project management
- Extensive knowledge of records and information management policies, processes, procedures, acts and legislation
- Excellent communication skills, including a demonstrated history of preparing documentation for different audiences
- Business analysis skills to describe and solution complex, diverse issues and prepare substantiating reports, procedures and directives
- Understanding of how large complex organizations function and the ability to tailor best practices and strategies to diverse operational environments
- Ability to clearly communicate, convey and receive messages to meet a variety of needs including listening, interpreting, formulating and delivering verbal, nonverbal, written and electronic messages
- Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve results.
- Considerable experience with Google platform
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement.

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week Monday to Friday
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
