The Modernization, IMT, and Research Branch provides data, research, and evaluation, and IMT services to support evidence-based decision making for all divisions within the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services. The branch reports data for business operations, assesses the effectiveness, efficiency, and implications of programs and services, links data systems, transforms data into insights, and generates new knowledge and data innovation to drive PSES and its partners forward.

**Role Responsibilities**:

If you excel in collaborative environments, possess a talent for organizing information, and have a proven track record of developing policies that enable business intelligence for clients managing secure administrative systems, we invite you to explore opportunities within the Strategy, Support, and Integrated Initiatives Division at the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services.

Reporting to the manager, you will provide professional expertise on modern supports, policies, and practices for managing complex social and community datasets with the technical understanding of issues surrounding developing and maintaining trustworthy, usable, private, and secure data assets. You will provide a unique perspective and leadership on ministry data management goals to ensure the requirements of diverse stakeholder groups are addressed, and innovative solutions are targeted to build the data management competencies essential to addressing the needs of the ministry. The purpose of this role is to promote best practices in data life cycle management and ensure the ministry has access to expertise in establishing ongoing best practices and systems.
- The main responsibilities of the Data Governance Advisor will include, but are not limited to:
- Align and implement ministry data management best practices and policies to ensure trustworthy and secure data assets are usable and accessible.
- Evaluate projects and systems to ensure the use of modern access and privacy controls, standards based metadata, interoperability and streamlined analytics processes.
- Advance the management of data as an asset with implementation of current and new processes, privacy standards, and policies to ensure the ministry has readily available and secure data for metrics and policy development.
- Guide GoA ministries and staff on issues related to data management, technical standards, and system development to ensure the ministry can integrate and provide secure, high-quality information.
- Uphold high standards in information management, emphasizing data integration, standardization, security, privacy, and accessibility within the ministry by maintaining awareness of current research and industry best practices.
- Provide operational support to ensure timelines and schedules for existing projects are met and augment capacity to meet demand for new project requests within the team.
