We are seeking an organized and energetic individual who is passionate about engaging and developing volunteers to join our team on a contract basis in the role of Volunteer Manager. This person will provide leadership to the Volunteer Coordinator as well as program managers and staff in the areas of volunteer and student placements while maintaining a working knowledge of all aspects of volunteer service practices in order to assess and meet the organization's needs.

This role is responsible for the House of Friendship Volunteer and Student strategies and building strategic relationships that connect with House of Friendship mission and strategic plan. This person will develop and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with educational institutions, faith communities and local businesses to build a base of group and individual volunteers and to connect those volunteers with appropriate volunteer roles as well as integrating student placements into staffing plans.

*** This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), contract position for 10 months (until March 2024).**

**Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.**

**Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check required.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead, develop and support the team including the Volunteer Coordinator as well as any volunteers and students placed in the program
- Supervisory responsibilities for health and safety; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all program team members
- Maintain communication with staff team, carry out coaching, regular check-ins and reviews, and supporting professional development
- Responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day operations of the program, including program budgets, expenses and coordination of data collection
- Develop and regularly update the student and volunteer strategies for the organization
- Build strategic relationships that connect with House of Friendship mission and strategic plan
- Develop and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with educational institutions, faith communities and local businesses to build a base of group and individual volunteers and to connect those volunteers with appropriate volunteer roles and activities
- Build strong relationships with educational institutions and managers to integrate student placements into staffing plans
- Work with schools to plan for placements and respond to student inquiries
- Create and deliver presentations to schools and business groups, highlighting the opportunities at House of Friendship
- Develop recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure the success of volunteer recruitment and retention
- Support program managers with the recruitment, staffing, onboarding, and management of volunteers (including support with job descriptions, hazard analysis etc.)
- Provide leadership and direction for the Volunteer Coordinator with respect to volunteer engagement within the Christmas Food Program including volunteer recruitment, onsite training, and recognition (the Volunteer Coordinator will be the main point of contact for this program’s volunteers)
- Develop strong relationships with program managers and program level volunteer coordinators
- Equip leaders to effectively manage volunteers including training opportunities, communication strategies, workshops etc.
- Work with program managers to connect volunteers to their program needs
- Provide leadership as a key member of the Nominating Sub-committee of the Board of Directors
- Support and provide leadership on recruitment efforts
- Identify and develop strategies for growing and engaging the House of Friendship volunteer community
- Develop and maintain policies and systems to ensure effective volunteer management
- Develop and maintain orientation and training requirements and materials
- Develop innovative communication strategies, including social media to share opportunities, upcoming events and recognize volunteers and to ensure that volunteers are engaged and equipped as advocates
- Lead expert on the volunteer database, including providing training and support to users, ensuring accurate data entry and analysis
- Develop reports and interpret volunteer demographics, activity and interests to assist with planning
- Provide oversight and leadership to the Volunteer Coordinator to plan and execute Volunteer Recognition strategies including an annual volunteer recognition event, event recogniti
