Kitchener, Canada Bereaved Families of Ontario Midwestern Region Full time

As a peer support organization driven by volunteers, this new role at BFO-MR is critical for ensuring we can continue providing grief support and education for the communities we serve. From recruiting and onboarding to day-to-day management and engagement, the Volunteer Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for individuals who generously give their time to BFO-MR.

This position is a two-year contract funded by a Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Volunteer Recruitment, Retention & Administration**
- Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy for opportunities across all areas of operation (peer facilitators, events, committees etc) and identify additional areas where volunteers could support BFO-MR’s work.
- Develop processes, policies and procedures.
- Create content for BFO-MR’s Volunteer Connection newsletter.
- Work with staff to source and implement additional training opportunities for volunteers.
- Plan and execute National Volunteer Week activities and/or volunteer recognition events and initiatives.

**Facilitator Training**
- Support the redevelopment of our Facilitator Training program and manual.
- Work with the Program Coordinator to conduct interviews with potential volunteers and complete reference checks.
- Work with the Program Coordinator to coordinate the logistics of our facilitator training programs.
- Complete post-training engagement and onboarding.

**Group and Event Support**
- Work with the Program Coordinator to schedule facilitators for groups and support volunteers on group nights.
- Coordinate fundraising and memorial event volunteers and be BFO-MR’s primary point of contact onsite.

**Other**:

- Actively contribute to furthering BFO-MR’s Equity Strategy
- Involvement in BFO-MR community events and fundraising activities
- Positively represent BFO-MR to external as well as internal audiences
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

**Skills & Assets**
- Experience in equity, diversity and inclusion work an asset.
- Excellent social and interpersonal skills.
- Strong interviewing skills.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage people.
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, WordPress, Constant Contact and database management is ideal
- A valid G driver’s license without restrictions and a reliable vehicle is preferred.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
