**Research Casting International (RCI) **is one of the world’s largest providers of Museum Technical Services, which include specimen restoration, casting, mounting, exhibit fabrication, and transportation. Our staff are dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the world’s most valuable paleontological specimens and artifacts.

Recent developments in digital technology (including advances in 3D scanning and printing capabilities) have presented new opportunities for us to expand our operations and provide new and innovative services to our clients

We currently have an opening for an entry level system administrator to help develop and implement RCI's IT plans. This includes our digital IT strategy, updating and maintaining our digital database, and overall operating of our day-to-day information technology/data operations (including cybersecurity).

This role will be responsible for the effective operation of IT services, systems maintenance, and end user support across the RCI and its departments. Reporting to the IT Manager and the RCI management team, the system administrator will also be involved in IT strategic planning, as well as identifying, selecting, and deploying the appropriate technology resources, both internal and external, to support RCI’s organizational objectives, mitigate cybersecurity and infrastructure risks and threats, and to analyze and manage the efficient operations of our IT and digital resources.

This role will also involve supporting our 3D scanning operations and managing the resulting data, contributing to the cataloging, storage, and accessibility of digital assets. As part of these responsibilities, you may assist in setting up and maintaining scanning equipment, organizing data workflows, and ensuring efficient data management practices. Additionally, this position may include occasional travel to support on-site scanning projects, equipment setup, or other IT-related tasks.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Technical Expertise**

With your growing technical skills, you will:

- Participate in IT System Management: Support the design, development, and maintenance of our IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation of platforms across the organization.
- Manage Installations and Updates: Assist in the installation, configuration, updates, and repairs for various IT equipment, including workstations and networking hardware. Perform regular software and hardware maintenance tasks.
- Support System Efficiency: Help research and implement technologies to improve communication, project management, and productivity.
- Data Backup and Integrity: Support and manage weekly/monthly backups, testing their integrity regularly, and ensure data is properly stored and recoverable.
- Vendor Coordination: Work closely with technical service providers and assist in internal maintenance of systems.
- 3D Scanning & Data Management Support: Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of 3D scanning equipment, organize data workflows, and ensure proper cataloging and storage of digital assets. Be prepared for occasional travel to support on-site scanning and equipment setup.

**Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**

With your keen analytical and problem-solving skills, you will:

- Assess IT Needs: Evaluate and understand IT and digital needs, suggesting improvements for delivery platforms, data storage, and file processing.
- Identify Opportunities for Improvement: Assess and propose solutions to enhance existing services and infrastructure for performance and security.
- Support System Security: Assist in security incident responses, including malware removal, system re-imaging, and escalating to cybersecurity personnel.

**Qualifications**
- Education & Certifications: A degree or diploma in computer science, information systems, network administration, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Industry certifications (e.g., COMPTIA, CCNA, SSCP) are a plus.
- Foundational IT Experience: Direct experience or strong foundational knowledge in IT support, including installations, system updates, and basic troubleshooting. Experience with Managed Service Providers is an asset.
- Networking & Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with networking concepts, operating systems, and cloud architectures, including proficiency with VPN networks, firewalls, and cybersecurity principles.
- Tech Savvy with Interest in Blockchain Technology: Exposure to technologies like blockchain and decentralized data storage is considered a strong asset.
- Experience or Interest in 3D Scanning and Data Management: Knowledge of 3D scanning technology, 3D Printing, data cataloging, and digital asset management is a plus, with a willingness to travel for on-site scanning projects as needed.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
