**SUMMARY DESCRIPTION**:
The Process Specialist-EBM Shuttle role is key resource in the organization to support the Silgan Plastic Operation sites with technical knowledge to resolve EBM processing issues in each EBM Shuttle facility.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Able to effectively communicate with plant process setup technicians and equipment operators to resolve issues either by phone/MS TEAMS calls or traveling to the operating plant.
- Able to work safely in an environment with industrial equipment.
- Understand and support the safe operation of the Extrusion Blow Molding equipment across the Silgan facilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate various brands of EBM Shuttle platforms in a safe manner consistent with manufacturers operating guidelines.
- Able to safely perform machine setups for new and continuous improvement projects, assist with job changes as required to support manufacturing operations.
- Ability to read and understand product part drawings (bottle, closure, etc.) and specifications to understand what features are critical to part function and performance.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of plastic materials and processing requirements.
- Ability to follow procedures to document whether process tests are a success or failure. Document the criteria for success prior to beginning process run.
- Able to provide independent recommendations for product design adjustments or process changes to improve product or process based on process evaluations performed in Silgan Operations Plants
- Able to use MS Officebased programs (primarily MS Word, Excel, and MS Project) to document results or process evaluations performed in Silgan Operations Plants
- Ability to determine when a process is in control after process adjustments are made prior to taking retained samples for evaluations. Strong ability to understand basic statistical concepts and adjust process parameters accordingly to align with target dimensions.
- Ability to use test equipment for basic bottle measurements scales, calipers, optical comparator, magna mike, top load tester, etc.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of extrusion blow molding equipment and support equipment when break downs occur. Address minor problems and contact service support for major issues.
- Must be able to travel to Silgan Plastics sites, suppliers, and customer facilities, if necessary, to support projects
- Work with plant teams to assist with job changes and process set up as required to resolve issues.

Verify Process Set up on existing processes and establish processes on new and continuous improvement projects.

Verify that the correct materials are being used and are properly prepared, review BOM documents during initial trail.

Verify that equipment is functioning within appropriate operating conditions.

Startup process on production machine and evaluate parts to determine if meets targets (Quality, Cycle time, efficiencies, etc.)

If yes, document process, observations, and recommendations in service report

If no, work with Technology Manager-Shuttle & Operations Process technician to determine how to meet targets, document parameters for multiple process runs, document results, capture the information in service report.

Document requirements or plans to resolve the issue.

Work with plant operations team to execute recommendations.

Monitor the production quality of samples produced during process evaluations and sample runs.

Use data (statistical methods) to determine the best process or quantify improvements.
- Support PDE (Product Development Engineer) on new product startups

Target process parameters to develop process for new products.

Determine the optimum process to meet product performance requirements.

Document parameters used in multiple process runs.

Capture the information in process evaluation report.

Document process window - key process variables

Communicate and document recommendations for product improvement.

Frequent travel to operation facilities to assist with setup and support new & continuous improvement process development and production startup.
- Participate in Shuttle Project Performance review meeting Pro# 00291 to review that OEE performance target are met on the 1st couple of production runs. If goals are not met and improvements are required work with the teams to determine action to address those issues, identifying next steps, process changes, training, additional components (Product Development Engineers are responsible to initiate these meetings once a project has been released after the initial production run)
