**Position Title: Regional Operations Manager**

**Position Summary**:
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the physical operations of the business in the assigned region. This role may also oversee other managers, such as Service
Managers and/or Branch Managers where applicable.

Operations Manager’s performance will be measured by the degree to which s/he effectively manages the Region and all its functions, resulting in productivity, fulfilled employees, profitability, growth and customer satisfaction.

**Organizational Status**:
The Regional Service Manager reports to the General Manager, Service. If there are Service Managers in the Region, they are direct reports to this position and are in daily communication and contact. He/she works in an open office environment, which may be in the Corporate Offices or may be remotely located within a Regional Facility. There is a lateral relationship with members of the Human Resources department for purposes of interviewing/ hiring into the Region as well as any union related concerns.

After learning the tasks of the position as well as becoming knowledgeable as to how the Company operates, it is expected that the Regional Operations Manager will be able to work independently and with autonomy. Interdepartmental decision-making authority lies with the position, with major decisions being made with involvement and discussion with the General Manager of the respective department.

**Work Performed**:

- Manage the Service Managers within the designated region, including interviewing, hiring, coordinating training, employee motivation, employee performance management, corrective counselling and recommending transfers, promotions or terminations
- Oversee transport trucks & drivers if present in the region
- Work closely with the Human Resources department on Labour related or sensitive personnel issues
- Provide direction, support and guidance to the Service Managers on a daily and/or task specific basis
- Review the Process Improvement Forms completed by the Service Managers as necessary and provide input and direction in addressing the causes and identifying solutions surfaced on the form
- Work with the Service Managers to develop a plan for the General Manager as it relates to vehicle purchase/repair/modification/replacement
- Provide input into the topics of training for the weekly tool box meeting
- Ensures compliance with standards within the department to ensure a consistent customer experience, both locally and regionally
- Researches new ways to be profitable, and to provide new services to our customers
- Managing the key assets within the region, such as: shop tooling and equipment, computers, technology and mobile devices, service vehicle fleet, rental/fleet equipment inventory & parts inventory
- Closely manages key performance measures (profitability, customer service, synergies/relationships) for each region and by customer
- Looks out for the interests of each independent business unit operating within the region, with an objective view and without bias
- Provides detailed feedback and recommendations to other managers (SM/GM/VP) on physical operations improvement opportunities within the respective unit(s)
- Actively participates with Sales/Rental staff in key customer interactions involving operations
- related issues such as major service calls, customer damage, or resource planning
- Maintains regular communication with each business unit operating within the region to maintain alignment in physical operations and KPIs
- To act on behalf of senior management in all physical operations matters in the assigned region
- Reviews all paperwork completed in the event of a Workplace incident or Accident
- Ensures that all corporate safety initiatives and programs are strictly followed in the field
- Ensures that the Safety standards under the COR (Certificate of Recognition) designation are reviewed and enforced through weekly tool box meeting, monthly safety meetings and periodic safety spot checks

**Education/Work Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in Sale, Business, Management or a related discipline
- Six - Ten years of experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in a similar role is considered a strong asset
- Mechanical knowledge of the heavy machinery industry is an asset

**Skills**:

- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Superior skills in organization and time planning, interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Proven leadership and prior management experience required
- Excellent Project Management skills required
- Futuristic/Visionary focus
